I read somewhere that Maxtor HDD are sensitive to PCI speeds above 37 mhz. Can this be true? I have a 27.3, ATA 66 (7200rpm) HDD. I think my system can be tweaked a little higher. Thanx in advance.

The older ones and the inexpensive ones seem to be the most problematic. I don't recall seeing anyone having problems with the modern faster ones.

I run my Max 20g 7200 @ 140 fsb,Nowadays the Maxtor's and IBM's are the most tollerant, and you couldn't give me a caviar....I had one die after only a year of service..doesn't say much for their MTBF rate...once burned, I usualy stay away, and shop elsewhere.
Untill I found Maxtor, My drive of choice was the JTS paladium models..but alass they are no more. JTS was putting 1mb cache buffers in when other's were still in the 256, 512k range. And that is why I first went with Maxtor...my current drive has a 2mb buffer.
Gimme the cache!
