Right now i have a Celeron II 700 @ 877 on my asus P3V4X at 1.65v and 1.7v is the default. I have a MSI 6905 MASTER slotkey and can not squeeze any more out of this Celeron. What is the best Intel Pentium III processor for around 150 dollars. I am looking at the PIII 700 right now. I only want cC0's. I want to hit somewhere around 1ghz to 1.1ghz. I expect to use a 72 watt peltier or just air cooling. Please reply as soon as possible. O, I would also like to know where i could buy the chip. THANX ALOT GUYZ

I just upgraded my P3 from 600e to a 700 (cBO) last week. You may want to check the database but it seems there have been more successes with the 700 than any other. I bought my 700 from Buy.com and fortunately did get a wk20 batch even though its a cBO stepping. The only place that I have heard about having the cCO and also pretesting for o/clock is PC Nut. Even if you find a cCO that alone does not assure you of 1K+ ,however. The success rate seems to be about 5 or 6 out of 10 that can get there. I'm still burning mine in before I move up higher.

As I write this to you... I am "beta" testing my 1008Mhz PC using a AlphaPEP66T which is cooling my PIII700 "cB0" stepping FCPGA or flipchip. I am also using an Abit Slocket III adapter so I can use the flipchip on my P3V4x mobo.

I have already tested for several days a stable and successfull overclock of 980Mhz @ 1.90 volts and 3.6 volts I/O. Just air cooling!!!

In order to get to the 1Ghz level with this CPU I had to increase the CPU voltage up 2.0volts. I was able to bypass the P3V4X voltage limit of 1.95volts by using the manual jumpers that came with the Abit Slotket III adapter.

1Ghz so far so good.... I am just testing for stability...

Hope that helps your quest for the 1Ghz club.
