It appears the very latest Bartons have, which is amazing.

You need PC3200 RAM to do 200 FSB though.

That will depend on what week and stepping you get from newegg...newegg gets so many of them that it is hard to tell...some people have gotten the latest one and some have been getting the older ones...weeks 41 - 43...I just seen a thread a few days ago...cant find it now...but it had a link to a retailer that you could request a 31 or 34 week 2500 and was still instock...

And if you havent gotten any ram yet...Kingston sell a DC PC3200 value ram set...they will do 200FSB at 6-3-3 cas 3...and pretty cheap...like 120.00 or so for a 512MB DC kit...might be even cheaper if you order directly from Kingston...

Okay, thanks. I'm gonna get her a mobile 2500 instead. It'll do 2.2 at stock Barton voltage (my last one did, anyway). She's going to have a wicked machine. 2x 512MB PC3500 Mushkin Black Level 2, BBA Radeon 9800XT, NF7

Not entirely true, I have 3x256mb pc 2100 Micron in my locked 2500 11x200...specs in sig

What percent of PC2100 RAM sticks can do 200 FSB 100 % insync (not async)?

I would say less than one percent PC2100s can. They're mislabeled.

PC2100s OC from 133 to high 140s or low 150s FSB 100% insync.
PC2700s OC from 166 to high 180s or low 190s FSB 100% insync
Some PC3200s OC from 200 to only 208 or so, some waay passed 220 FSB...

You won the lottery with your RAM Sup Now, and that's great for you.

check my sig, i'm running an older chip on stock voltage at 200x11 (stock multi)...

the newer chips should def. be a good safe bet.

Another stock voltage 2.2ghz 2500+ plus here. It's a late week (0342) chip from NewEgg.

Not mislabelled, downgraded

Micron produce their own chips and those for Crucial RAM. My guess is they churn out PC2700 CAS3 ram like nobody's business for the least cost, and test the chips for PC3200, PC2700 and PC2100 functionality. They are speed binned but most chips are capable of PC2700 and above, as the memory chip process is probably quite well refined.

Thus they are extremely overclockable

My PC2100 Crucial does 195MHz 3-4-4-8 @2.6v.

if you have a butt load of money then why are you only getting a xp2500???? if you want the ultimate gaming rig then get a fx51 man!! sheesh. :)

edit - i big time recommend raid 0 as well for ultimate gaming. you could get her two 74gig raptors and THEN you'd have the ULTIMATE rig!

I have a 2500+ barton week 44 (0344), 200x11, stock voltage. Oh and on a side note, All PC2700 Crucial (micron) memory I have ever purchased would run PC3200 specs on default voltage no problem. But back to the original thread, I just built this system with the 2500+ in it, so far so good. The 9600xt holds its own. I like it, I like it alot.....
