View Full Version : Switching to AstroP/FAH

I'm going to try to continue ramping up my production, but I have to say as soon as the SETI phase 1 client is disconnected, i'm going to do astropulse/fah. While I think SETI is great and alot of fun, there are worthier causes out there. In the meantime I hope to get a barton and a thunderbird going, and to recruit a 1.4ghz p3.
In any case, I was wondering who else would switch over to either fah or astropulse when boinc is released?
Once Seti phase 1 is over Astropulse will be the only option - so whom ever wants to keep up with the program will be running Astropulse. There is no option to keep running classic Seti - you either switch or not. As for there being worthier causes, that's entirely personal opinion and should be debated somewhere else if you so choose. We try to avoid that sort of discussion around here.
Following Phase 1 I will probably be switching to FAH - I'll be on the Overclockers FAH team though :-)
In the mean time - all my machines are working for the OC seti team and i'm in the top 10 producers right now, YAY! :-)
Take care.

I thought that there would be a SETI client with BOINC. In that case, I will still be running astropulse, but I will add FAH into my regime. Sorry for bringing it up, I didn't realize.

There will be a seti client for a very brief period of time, but the main focus of phase 2 appears to be Astropulse. Certainly no problem with you bringing up the topic, but we try to avoid making statements about one DC project being better than another because it often turns into a shouting match. We're generally pretty well behaved around here though :)
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT TC!!! A SHOUTING MATCH!!!! COME ON!!!!!! ;) :D
I'm just too confused about all the talk of switchovers...I've run a little bit of Boinc Seti just to check it out, but I'm going to continue to run SAH until it won't let me anymore, and then I'll just see what the current trend is at the time. I've looked at all the threads on AP/Boinc/SAH, and to be honest, I'm still clueless on it all ;)

Lmao, my thoughts exactly, who knows, perhaps I'll figure it out before they do!

the only reason i haven't moved over to FAH is b/c I never found anything like SetiDriver. My systems aren't always on the network, so I need some sort of queue program.

And despite my previous post, at of 2:49 today, I've moved over to FAH. Sorry guys. I had a decent amount of WU's, 2450. Ah well, on to the next project. Losing all my stats when Astropulse comes out really made my decision easy.
ANyway, good luck and don't let your cycles go to waste!
Sorry to see you switch, but your always a team member even if all you ever complete is 1 WU
Personally I've just been ignoring all the boinc/astropulse etc... stuff so I can just continue to enjoy crunching. Stats are nice but SETI means a bit more than stats to me.

We all know the real reason people use Seti@home....for the little icon in the tasktray :) Coolest thing I've seen...
