new enermax ...ozone smell?????

ok guys just upgraded my power supply at long last i got someone to bring me a enermax 365w from the uk as ya cant get owt decent here(see profile for my loc)
anyway i put it in saw levels on all rails rise to a decent level that are solid but i am getting a slight ozone/electric sorta smell coming outa it it aint a strong "oh my god summats burning" smell but enough for you to notice when you enter the room.
is this a normal thing on new power suplies or u think summat is amiss?

just too add aswell that it is definately the psu and not anything else in the pc as i have had my nose all over this computer in the last few days and it only smells from the psu exaust fan and no where else in the case


by the way psu is a enermax eg365p-ve-fca

I would give it a week to settle in to see if the smell goes away.
The best way for it to produce ozone is to have a high-frequency conductor with missing or bad insulation.
Do Not open it up to investigate, you might need the warranty.

You could look in the back through the fan or through the vents inside the case when the room lights are dim/off. That smell is usually accompanied by tiny "lightening" that would show as a dim bluish light at the voltage leak. If you don't see that, give it a week to settle in.
If you do see it, get a new one as soon as possible.



Isn't Tenerife the little island that's predicted to have a land slide that will start a tsunami toward New York? I know I've heard that name on Discovery channel...just can't quite place it.

yup thats right :eek:
its actualy the next door island of la palma which belongs to tenerife but it is probably where you saw it.
