View Full Version : AMD 64 and folding?
Has anyone got one of these bad boys folding yet??
From what was talked about a while back, they won't fold much faster than an XP until a 64bit client comes out. With amd pursuing 64bit, perhaps there will be a new client in the near future.

Maybe we could ask AMD and Intel to donate powerful processors for advertisement, but fat chance :p
I have 2 in my hands right now, but I don't have any board to run them .. :( ... and probably won't until new year .. no more fund for another layer ... grrrrr
Wouldn't a 64 bit client require a 64 bit OS?

Windows has had a 64bit version of XP for a while...

BTW I found this to be a shock
Windows XP 64–Bit Edition supports up to 16 GB of RAM and 16 TB of virtual memory
Humm, what can I do with 16GB of ram... Wonder what motherboard could hold that much ;)

Is the Intel Xeon a 64-bit CPU?
EDIT: ... and I don't see any non-Intel boards at any of those Supermicro links. Don't they like AMD???

NO, xeons are 32 bit. Itaniums are 64bit. And 64bit XP only works for itaniums, not for AMD64.
You sure about that Ark? I have been told different.

Arkaine is correct. The AMD64 version isn't released yet. Only the Itaniums have 64 bit windows.
