Ok here's my problem,I just bought a p3 700 as you can tell by my sig thats@933 1.8v. I've had it for only a few days now and have played with it alot. The really weird thing is that I can loop 3dmark2k with no problems at all,I have total stability at 1.8v in intense 3d gaming for long periods of time,My hardware has been to 150mhz fsb in the past so it's ok,But when I shutdown this rig it won't cold boot to 933 on a regular basis!

Does anyone know why this is?
I,ve tried upping the voltage as high as 1.95 with no luck [My temps seem ok when it does boot, never goes above 42c under load idles at 30c]

Please help me with this problem !

You seem to have what I've seen referred to as the "Cold Boot Problem". It's apparently caused due to the CPU booting up at the default voltage and after the POST, changing to the voltage that you set in the BIOS. I've read where people have done the "wire trick" to modify the default voltage on the CPU. The only thing is it requires bending one of the pins on the CPU as well as connecting two pins with thin copper wire.

If there's another explanation for this problem, I'd be interested in knowing myself.

I was thinking it might be a voltage problem also. If you're using an FCPGA CPU try setting the voltage on the slocket rather than setting it in the BIOS. Good Luck!!

I don't have a slotket I have a socket 370 mobo!
But if I get some better cooling will it maybe post on cold boot by keeping it cooler?

The voltage thing sounds right though [bummer]
I've tried as high as 1.95v with no luck either so it's probably at 1.65v until it gets past post!

That blows but you can still use soft fsb. Just make sure your dividers and ram timings are set and then change it once you boot into windows. Kind of a pain but at least you can cold boot and get overclocking benefits.

I've downloaded soft fsb but it doesn't list my mobo & I don't know what the clock generator spec is can't find it anywhere?

Do you happen to know this ?

Im not sure it is a popular board so it has to be around somewhere. I had a aopen board I had to visually inspect the chip and read the numbers off of it. You can do that if all else fails.

This could be it. I found it on a japanese sight. Im sure someone will know it though.

This might help... increase your "I/O 3.3 volt" to a higher setting in your mobo's bios or if not available in your mobo's bios try doing it manually from the jumpers on the mobo.

For example, I gained stability from increasing my "I/O 3.3 volt" to 3.6 volt and now I am able to overclock (COMPLETELY STABLE) to a PIII700@980Mhz 1.90volts.

Hope that helps.
