i was wondering what athlon mp is..xp is eXtra Performance o...MP would be.. More Performance? haha but really, wats mp used for? dual cpu mobos?? and what exactly does it standd for?

MP = XP with L5 bridge closed + lots of markup.

MPs are essentially SMP-enabled XPs with just the last L5 bridge closed, that's what allows them to run in SMP (Symmetric Multi processing) mode.

So if one wanted to go multiprocessor, all they have to do is take two XP chips and close their L5 bridges before putting them in a dual processor motherboard?

Yup ;) MPs are a waste of money.

I don't know what the story is with new locked chips but yes, that's the way to turn an XP into an MP.
