I have a socket 370 and slot 1 board. Will the Celeron PPGA and FCPGA work on any socket 370 board that will go to 533mhz? My board has both slots, so why would I be limited to 533 mhz with a Celeron but I can go to 850mhz with a Pentium III? Board is ECS P6BAT-A+
Only reason I can think of is that the socket370 doesn't have voltage regulation capabilities to support coppermine. However I would doubt that to be the case, if the slot1 does.
Yea... I'm wondering the same. I have a socket 370 running a Cel433 and thinking of upgrading to a Cel566 FC-PGA. Is it possible?
With my old Abit BH6 mobo, I had to flash the BIOS with an update before I could use the faster CPUs (higher clock multipliers) that weren't available when I originally bought the board. Sometimes this will give you more voltage settings too. Check your mobo's home page for BIOS updates and instructions. WARNING: don't mess up the BIOS flashing procedure or else you're screwed... no kiss... no vasoline.

Try the PowerLeap S370 converter:
http://www.powerleap.com/Neo-S370/S370.htm
But don't forget you need a CU microcode support update for your BIOS as well!! (And keep in mind that not all CU procs use the same microcode, so you might have CU support, but not for your stepping etc..
Check out the story on eg. the ASUS site with the 1012 BIOS release for the P2B
More CU u-code BIOS upgrade postings over here:
http://208.55.28.22/cgi_local/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&forum=BIOS+Upgrade+Talk&number=8&DaysPrune=45&LastLogin=
And read the S370 FAQ: http://www.friendtech.com/FAQ/FAQ_NeoS370.htm#NeoS370_4
(Like, make sure your motherboard support the VRM V8.2 Voltage specs ( < 2.0V, like 1.6/1.65V on the current CU procs)
Also, don't try the S370 on the BP6 yet, unless you use 500 or 550 (533??) CU procs!!
Thanks a ton for the info CYCLOPS =]
