How is this guru?
1. Does the OC guru actually perform well? Is it as simple as just picking a user-predefined bios/configuration setting? Are there any disadvantages to actually running an OCed system thru Windows XP? I had raed a comment over @ Dev, suggested this way of OC is not good?
2. I also saw something about an Ai7-G? I suppose this board would rock but when might we see it if at all? Got an opinion?
Please post it. Thanks, Bill
First off "welcome to the forums!" Just incase nobody did that for you yet. Heh!
See how far it will go on default voltage first.
Go into the bios by re-booting and hitting the "delete" button. Your bios screen will pop up. Go to the "Soft Menu" (for Abit) and select "front side bus." I would start out at 20mhz above default which would be 220. Make sure you select "fixed" for the AGP/PCI ratio to lock the speed of your pci slots and agp...these will be unstable if you don't. Then hit "f-10" and reboot run a benchmark (Sandra cpu & memory) if it doesn't crash or lock up. Repeat the process but proceed at 10mhz until you experience a crash or a lock up...that is your limit with default voltage. Increase the voltage of your chip I would do it in .25v increments until you get to 1.7v....I wouldn't go any higher than that no matter what!! You can also up the voltage to your memory, I would leave it on 2.8v which is probably your max for memory.
Do this and tell us what you get.

Hi, how ya doin'. I actually don't have a mobo yet. lol Though I do appreciate the advice because if I do indeed get ab Abit board, I undoubtly will be needing some guidance as it pertains to it.
No, I still can't decide on which board yet? I think the OC guru thing sounds funky (good) though and wanted to hear more about it from people who actually know about it. Thanks Dude, Bill
