connection icon disappeared

don't know how but it did...i uninstalled my modem and reinstalled and 2x checked to make sure the box to show the icon was checked...nothing. what's another way to disconnect w/out the icon?

Can't you go into the controlpanel and under your the preferences of your internetconnection enable the icon again?
