Needing some tippers on running my P3 600e up. I just put in the Alpha and the very stable Mushkin RAM (was going to try the OCZ store RAM but they were sold out) and I am not at all sure about changing things in Soft Menu 3. If anyone can guide me... well it may save me from becoming a re-re. Responses please pour in, jez. Yeah, Hey, Cozy

You could help us by giving us some more system specifications, especially your motherboard and videocard...
The trick on an intel CPU is to up the FSB, so start out by doing so! :) If it comes to a point where it can't go further, you might want to up the core voltage as well.

You have to set the speed to "user define" or "manual" or whatever in softmenu3. Then you up the FSB, save, and reboot...
Also, disable Speed Error mode. You have to decide for yourself how much you will risk increasing the voltage. Most users do not increase the voltage for this CPU beyond 1.85 volts.
Once you do these, then you can up the FSB in steps.
I meant Speed Error Hold. It is a setting in Soft FSB on most of the Abit boards. I don't own the exact board that you do. I have the SE6.

Screw the quote - but what's the worst that can happen if you don't up the voltage and seem to be running fine? My "WinME" setup (setup above) crashed in a blue firey death recently, no warning signs, and I was not able to use restore. Not only that, I couldn't boot in safe mode and Dos would not load the oak drivers for any CD Rom when I used the boot disk. I'm at a point for suggestions. The hardware seems to be fine and I have slicked the HD in another computer of mine.. not sure. Where doo I screwed the pooch? Cozy
