Just wondering if anyone has tried this and what the results were. I know that the price is incrediable for gear.
But just wondering.
Just imagine a 4-way OC'd XEON?

I wouldn't say the prices are all that great for older Xeon's..I've seen 400's and 450 with 1mb or 2mb going for the mid $200's... the big expense is for the motherboards...especially for those with more than 2 CPU's
Yeah, you can actually get the older pentium II xeons fairly cheap now. It depends on which xeons your talking about and how much L2 cache they have.
As for overclocking xeons, one of the reasons why you don't hear much about overclocked xeons is probably that the motherboards for them aren't overclocker friendly and probably don't have many, if any, options for raising the FSB. These boards aren't exactly targeted at the overclockering segment of the market.
