K8 IHS removal

I believe there was a thread a while back (month?) where a guy had some sort of vapor cooling (prommie maybe) and the IHS came off with the prommie. His processor still worked so I guess that could be counted as successful but unintentional?
Edit: It seems that thread has been deleted or else I used the wrong search terms but I couldn't find it. But basically the themal paste was acting as a vacuum and would not let go of the prommie and it just came with it when he took it off. Other than that I have heard that the cores are brittle and can more easily crack than todays bartons/tbreds because of the SOI.
