wha would preform better?

without considering the cost what would preform better...a p4 1.5gig or dual p3 750's?

All the numbers I have seen indicate the P4 would be more potent. Some of the benchmarks have been pretty impressive.

Depends on the operating system used, the software run, etc. Some of the benchmarks I have seen indicate the P4 is a dog unless radically overclocked. P4 isn't what you'd call a cost-effective overclocking solution, either. Think I would favor the SMP setup myself.

True- as always- it depends on the application. I have an SMP system and I like it a lot. The downside to SMP is that very little software utilizes the extra processor. Speed gains in SMP without threaded software are only in the 5-10% range. It can approach 50% with the right SMP capable software.
