THe differance is this. If you mess up a retail by breaking a pin or something like that you can send it back without someone who cannot speak english telling you that they will not take it back.

Retail comes with a 3 year warranty and a HSF
Oem comes with no HSF and a 30 day warranty
Also unless you know the store you bought it from and even then, OEM CPU's are picked through by pretesters so your chance of gettting a cherry CPU are diminished. With that said, my oem 700 runs great at 1120MHZ so if you know a good store that doesnt pretest it is a good way to go. The retail has a nice warranty which unfortunately I has to use once.

hey Jr,
Wow.. yours running @ 1120mhz??!!!! damnn...man! :)
That is very good. can u tell me what you did on yur cooling setup and voltage? Thnx!..
volts are at 1.95 i/o 3.6. It is nice and cool 37c max idles at 22c with rain. I could back it down a notch and run at 1.9v but I said what the hell lets see how long it will last by the time it dies it will be old news. I honestly think its perfectly safe though. Yeah I got lucky as hell I guess but I know that some other people have been getting them to 1100 also. Oh yeah all on a be6 rev2 board 160fsb. I jsut have to find some ram that will run 160 222 mine now craps out at 150fsb.
I just noticed I have the same exact setup as you except for the Mushkin ram. and I have a 20gig Maxtor. If you have the highpoint 370 controller it is easy to modify into a raid ata 100 board thats what I did to mine.

Thanks for the reply Jr. :)
That is cool.... very nice!
yeah.. I got a hpt370 UDMA100 controller. How do you upgrade to the raid performance? Do I need to go to the highpoint-tech site to get the driver for raid, is it?.. thnx!
Well their are some bios out there you can flash that people have hacked and have been tested on boards. You have to have the 370 highpoint controller not the 366. What I did was after a bad flash. I purchased a new bios chip for the rev 2 instead of the rev 1.2 from a guy at badflash.com for $20 and popped it in. I haven't got the raid hooked up yet but will soon when I get another drive. Look around its out there.
