this cely 600 is junk. want to get p3 700.
soyo sy-6ba+100,
radeon 32 ddr retail,
emu aps(sblive),
2xinfineon(kingston) 7.5 ns 133 pc133 256=512mb,
2 old isa cards,
onboard hpt dma 100 running wd40gb expert 7200 rpm,
and all the usual stuff.

does this system sound like it will run on 143+mhz fsb?(so long as the cpu takes it).
celeron wont even run at 100fsb, i think its the chip.
namely will my memory make it that high?
and i would be worried about the onboard hpt 100 controller.
what do you think? i just spent $87 on a celeron that sux. should i run out and get the p!!! 700? i only want to do it if the odds are 50/50 like they should be. if the odds are stacked against me due to the rest of my setup, please advise me! before i put another $165 down the toilette!
do i need the cc0 p!!! or is the cb0 ok?

also if you think i still have a chance with my celeron, please let me know what and how!

thank you,
sendatooli.

I think the issues with 143FSB are going to be the SB Live and the Isa cards- The SB Live has been a problem for many folks at high PCI speeds- maybe the latest drivers will help, but I wouldn't count on it. I presume the ISA cards are something you can't live without? Have you tried the Celeron with everything removed but the video card and drives? If you are dead set in getting to 1GHz then the odds are against you no matter what. 933 is a reasonable goal, and it's not ALWAYS achievable with the PIII-700.

I have a cb0 that will run 1050. I recently tested 4 more and 3 of them didn't like 933 much. The 4th one did it just fine. These might go further, but with the Intel hsf I had on hand for testing the results were not overly encouraging.

I also have 2 cc0s that run at 1002 reluctantly. They might each go higher on a single cpu MB, but on a dual board they won't go any higher with decent stability. This is typical of the dual MBs- I don't have the time or motivation to try them in my single cpu system.

Even if you (gasp) buy pretested cpus, it is doubtful that they will have been tested on a Soyo MB, so it's still a crap shoot. Most cpu testers use Abit or Asus MBs for testing, since that's what most of the hardcore overclockers use for their systems.
