Got suckered into a spyware site online and was able to remove about 95% of the crap this site installed but my IE occasionally switches over to "http:///" when I load certain pages. I don't know what is wrong or where to fix it. I've tried searching for "HTTP:///" In my files and registry and cleared out offline files. Nothing helped.

Any thoughts? It's really annoying, I can't even browse weather.com without it popping over to http:///

ANYOTHER problem I have is system32 folder loads at startup and when I open IE sometimes. I found the entry in the registry for that (supposidly) removes that problem but it keeps coming back.

Thanks everyone

Did you do a full virus scan? You might have a trojan trying to access a site

checks your HOSTS file.

it's in "%systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\" and it's called "hosts"

open that with notepad and look to see if there is anything odd in there.

virus scan was run with newest updates, no dice...

nothing strange in HOSTS file except a bunch of kazza Lite stuff but none of that seemed out of the ordinary.

EDIT: strike that, I removed a line that was:

127.0.0.1 localhost

and "other crappy sites" from the list of kazaa lite sites and everything seems to work great now! Thanks guys!

you need to have the line that says 127.0.0.1 localhost in there in order for your computer to make tcp/ip work properly for certain operations. add that one back and you should be fine.
