Question about 1700+

Hi all

I'm new here, and have recently fooled around with overclocking.
Heres my system:

Asus A7V8X-X
AMD Athlon XP [email protected]
512 MB 266mhz PC2100 DDR
Geforce FX 5600 256MB
Volcanoe 11x (I think,,, the one has the external adjustment knob)

I've been reading and searching through this board.
So far I've read about bridging the L1 cache to unlock the multiplier.

What else can I do without unlocking the multiplier?

I can run my fsb up to 149, which runs the pc at 11x149-1639mhz.

My voltage is at 1.5V.

It has crashed once on me after a long usage, so I'm going to up the voltage to 1.55V if it crashes again, then try 1.6V. (before installing the volcanoe)

Basically Im looking for somoene who has sucessfully overclocked a system similar to mine and am looking for advice.

You need better ram. What's the brand of your ram?

well I played around with it a little more... change the latency on the ram, upped voltage to 1.65V, and am running 11.5x149.

Still not that bad.
