ECS Elite P6BAP-A+ Motherboard Via Apollo Pro133 chipset
I have one of there mother boards and i can get the CPU speed from a P-III 700 to a P-III 933 but it is not very stable does anyone have any ideas on how to make it more stable on this motherboard.
I am using a golden orb cooler cpu temp @ 38oC
256mb PC133 memory
I was wondering about changing the core voltage of the chip to 1.75 or 1.8 but i am unsure about how to do it.

I have been told that to up the core voltage that i need to wire two pins together and bend another.......
Could anyone help me please????????

If you're really interested in doing that surgery, go to http://metamajik.com/pk/overclock.html.

Doing this will it make it more stable?????

Sorry...not sure what happened to the link. If you do that mod, it will set the default voltage for your chip to 1.85v. Let me get the real link.

Tac, you got a period in the url. ;) But, that url seems to be down at this moment.. I have personally performed this mod, actually I'm writing on that machine right now, and it works great. What the mod does, it sets your default VCore to 1.85V -- which opens up the higher VCores such as 1.9,1.95,2.00,2.05,2.10,2.20 and on... You never want to use more than 1.90V unless you have extreme cooling such as a VapoChill. Be careful when you bend the selected pin, as I was very careful and mine came unsoldered.. No biggy, I just straightened it out and put it up in a safe spot. If I need to reattach it I'll use a 25W soldering tip to remount it. BE CAREFUL! ;)

Coffin, when you have completed the mod, make sure you have a good heatsink with decent thermal paste (I use Rad shack stuff). Once booted up, keep an eye on your temperatures for the rest of the night.

I have a Thermaltake Golden Orb from http://www.overclockers.co.uk which cools my chip nicely and 2 case fans to disperse the excess heat.
So doing this mod will it improve the stability???
Maybe- assuming it's voltage related. It usually helps, but it may not be the only issue.
What temps are you seeing with the orb? When you increase the Vcore, you may outgrow it in a hurry! They really aren't the best choice for heavy overclocking. Be sure to watch it closely- beyond 45c many coppermines have stability problems- not all but many!
