Overclock P3 500 Katmai
192Mb ram pc100
Aopen AX6BC Pro mother board
no extra cooler

what is the best speed i can get by overclocking this chip

i have increase it to 560mhz and seems no problem .. now im running @620 ... temp is 41 C (from sandra 2001) or 36 C from the aopen motherboard utility program ..

is it advisable to keep it @620 .. do i need any extra coller ? if yes which one is good ?

thanks buddy

620 is pretty good, and at 41C that temperature will be stable.

The p3-500 katmai's won't overclock as much the coppermines, so if you can keep it stable at 620, that's great.

Intel temps spec are a max temp of 70-80C, but as long as you keep the temps below 50C then you'll be fine.

Consider yourself lucky if you get 620 stable. Mine will only do 560 stable at 2.2v. Even at 585 I get random lock-ups. Can you say "Plll750 cCO"? I know you can.
