View Full Version : i want to over clock my 800mhz p3 EB
I would like to over clock my P3 processor to higher speeds but not high enough that I would need additional cooling or parts. Does anyone know a safe maximum over clock speed if the chip is an 800Mhz EB processor? Intsructions on how to over clock my machine would also be good. Are there any Apps that can over clock? Thank you.

Thank you.I wouldn't o.c. it at all without better cooling. But if you must, then DO NOT increase the VCore voltage at all. And I wouldn't go beyond a FSB of 140 and only if you keep close attention to temps. Do yourself and your CPU a favor and invest a few dollars in a good CPU cooler. It's just not worth the worrying not too. Do some research first before making the dicision to o.c. and or purchasing an aftermarket HSF. There are tons of information to be found here that can help you make a better decision on what to do and what you need to buy.
There is no magic answer to questions like yours. These chips vary tremendously from batch to batch, and even unit to unit. Some overclock with no effort, at default Vcore, others require a lot of voltage, some get hot, some don't- there's just no way to tell without doing it.
I have to agree with Matt though- if you are going to push it much, keep a close eye on temps! Increasing the FSB causes the heat to go up- increasing Vcore makes it go up FAST. Even for moderate overclocking, you may find that it won't run stable under heavy load with the stock cooling.
I have my PIII 800eb running at 900, by OCing the FSB to 150. I use a Golden Orb for cooling and maintain a cpu temp between 34 and 38 degrees Celsius. My motherboard is an Asus CUV4X, and I can modify the FSB from BIOS setup, no jumpers.
I have been running at this speed for over 3 months and it is rock solid stable :)

me 2 corky im running my p3 800eb@900 by upping fsb to 150 no problems default voltage no extra cooling im fine. i suggest upping the fsb to 140 first seeing as i went straight for 900 i had a few minor problems but set it at 140 for 3 days went back to 150 and now im sitting pretty

your guys are so lucky
i have a slot 1 pen III 800eb processor but i could never get it to run at 900
for some reason my ram wont let me go up to 150 so i use 148 but it always crash
the highest i got was to 140 but it sucked
also, my cpu is always running hot for some reason
running at 48C and i replaced almost everything
got a new heatsink+fan, got a case fan, got a pci slot fan, tried some thermal grease but only got the thing to cool for 3 minutes, plus i don't even know if the grease is supposed to melt??
Well i got additional cooling, but before that i was running at 43*C, that wasnt bad but by only adding a pci fan, and some better fans, im running at an average 38, even under heavy loads. i have a socket 370 not a slot 1, this works better for me than my 450 slot one, not by speed but for stability. overclocking will be done soon and i plan on bringing it to about 900.

Here you go. Overclock to the speed that you are confortable with. I would say that the p3 might yield an extra 125 mhz without additional cooling, but it all depends on the proc.

I'm running my p3 800 eb at a FSB of 154 MHZ on a abit be6ll with 128 MEGS of PC133 no problems yet other than I can't wait for the hardware to support us for a change! because we are making it obsolete for a change! I need a good cooler and FASTER CARDS! don't we all !!!!!!!!!!!!!
