View Full Version : burned on googlegear PIII-700
Sucker flat out wont run at 933/133. Tried voltage as high as 1.95, GlobalWin/Delta cooling on a Asus CUSL2-C, 256mb/133 sdram. CPU box sez packaged on 30Sep2000, so may lend credence to that posting that 'late summer' chips were duds--OR intel has tweaked its performance specs... (Really disappointing--beware...) BTW, how do you tell the stepping is cB0 or cC0? Does it say that on the chip or box, or do you have to decipher some code?
Thanx.

Yo have to look at the SL-code
it's on both the Retail box(sticker) and on the chip.
You can also use Sisoft Sandra, and go into motherboard/cpu info, it will tell ya if it's cbo/cc0.
I bought my retail P3 700 from there too. Generally Googlegear is a good company with great prices and fast shipping, but my chip won't go 133 FSB at all.
Overall I'm pleased with them as a whole. Got my Celly 2 533 from there and it did 800 after burn-in, but I don't think they purposely ditribute unclockable chips. It's just the luck of the draw. I still recommend them.
FYI mine is cB0 as well.

Read the S-spec number on the processor and then check what you've got on this Intel page.
