I am new to over clocking and here is my situation. I have an Abit BX-133 Raid motherboard with an Intel PIII 750 CPU. I have set the SoftMenu III settings for 100 mhz FSB and a multiplier of 8.5 to generate a cpu speed of 850. I have run a couple of CPUID programs and they both show a multiplier of 7.5 and cpu speed of 750. Is there something I am missing? How can I tell if my cpu is really running at 850, or if my overclocking was even successful. Thanks!

Actually, unless you have an experimental cpu, you
cannot overclock your computer to 850mhz by just
changing the multiplier to 8.5x.

Your CPU is running at 750mhz as what the CPUID programs are telling you.

To overclock, you can only change the FSB, i.e. ttry 133mhz if possible or try lower bus speed settings such as 110,115,120,122 etc.
