I am currently running my celeron 566MHz at 706MHz with a 83MHz bus speed, I have tried several time to run it with a 100MHz bus speed but windows 98se keeps backing up files and won't run .... I have tried renaming scanreg but windows say explorer has caused an illigal operation every time I open a window. My celeron is a 566MHz socket 370 working on a Abit VA6 motherboard & I ajust the cpu setting with the bios (CPUsoft II) It also makes no difference if I change the clock multiplier the setting i really wan't are 100MHz bus speed with X8.5 clock multiplier

Since you didn't give many details, it is kinda hard to help you. Although I feel that almost any Celeron 566 can hit 850Mhz. You will need to raise the CPU core voltage to get it that high. 1.8V usually gets it there.
Good luck

And a good burn-in doesn't go amiss, either
