Greetings,

I a newbie on Oc and I'd apreciate any help you can offer :)

I have the following base system:
- Asus A7V8x-x
- XP 1600+ Palomino cooled by Vulcano 11+
- 512mbPC3200

Since my XP is MP locked I can only work out the FSB up to 156*10.5=1638Mhz @ Vcore 1.85

Anymore FSB than this makes the system go broof...

I've seen similiar systems running FSB over 170. Whats my problem? Do I need to unlock the CPU and then reduce the mp and then up the fsb first?

Why can I run at 166FSB? Is the Cpu locking me out?

Also, why cant I raise the voltage a bit more? I have the "over-voltage" pin ON and even so I cant raise more than 1.85v. My temps are bellow 42ºC even at max load.

Thanks for any comments or help :)

MajorMosh, welcome to the forums!

The A7V8X doesn't have a PCI lock, so when you're running at 156 the bus is out of spec. One of the components of your system may not like running close to 40mhz (instead of 33mhz) PCI bus speed. Have you tried jumping directly to 166?

Tks for the Welcome and reply :)))

Well, yes this board sucks on controling pci/agp etc.

Actualy the fsb/pci cycle is as follows:

133/33
(..)
149/38
150/30
(..)
166/33
and so on...

so my current rig is running 156(pci 31) underclock I guess :(

When I rise the fsb it freezes entering windows and at FSB166 it doesnt even boot :(

Is the CPU not accepting this high FSB? since it is a 133(266)cpu.

Tks Alot for the help :)
