i didn't want to spend that much money on ram so i'll just get buffalo technology 512 pc-3200. maybe i'll do some little overclocking. which one is faster stock 2600+ barton or 2700xp+.

The 2700xp+ is definatly faster than the 2600+ but both are able to reach a high overclock easily, I doubt the extra money for the 2700+ is worth it. They both run at very simular speeds so why not just get the 2600+ and overclock it a little more than you would if u had a 2700+?
Just my opinion, but then again, im always looking for a bargin :D

You posted at overclockers forums, so it's the Barton, no contest.
Get a new 2500+ and run it with this

ok from a 2500xp+ barton or 2600xp+ barton which one would overclock higher and both of them are lock.
I use the Barton 2600+ (unlocked) great chip!

If both 2500+ and 2600+ (Barton, not T-Bred) are locked, that means they're both new chips and excellent overclockers, so that's where your RAM comes into play:
MHz speed = [FSB] x multiplier
2500+ = FSB x 11
2600+ = FSB x 11.5
Can your RAM do 220+, or can it only do 210+ FSB?
2.2 GHz is easy, 2.3 GHz average, 2.4 is achievable, do the math depending on your RAM, cooling, Power Supply brand.

i know its all about the ram but i'm just going to do a little oc rite now to get it to 2ghz Then get batter ram when i get the money. if i'm doing the math rite 2600+ = FSB x 11.5 would be a higher overclocker. then 2500+
You are correct there; I'd say that the 2600+'s 11.5x multiplier is the best choice for most. Good luck.

You'd probably get better results with the Barton 2500+, especially for your money. You'll also probably be able to achieve a higher FSB with the 2500+, assuming your RAM is decent.

Go for the cheapest Buffalo PC3200 at Newegg - it has Winbond CH-5 chips. Of the three Buffalo sticks I've tested, all have reached 230mhz stable at 2.5-3-3-7, and will do over 210 at 2-3-2-6. If you can't spend much on RAM, then by all means, get this stuff.
