The 9600 SE is not worth the money, for the 9600 flavor get the XT at least. If you can get your hands on a 9500 for cheap go that way.
If you are planning to buy Call of Duty get the new 5900SE/XT that comes with the game. That card is not bad at all. Don't let anyone tell you differently.
If you can not afford these cards go on ebay and try and snag a ti4200 with 8x or newegg refurb for like 50 dolalrs
They are SOO much better than the Vid card you have now and there are not many DX9 games out yet.
Here is a summary of what you will hear and read bascially stay away from anything Nvidia unless it is a 5700 Ultra or better
The 9600 series is not that great a performance card. I have used the card and I know what I am talking about.
The 9600SE card can be beaten by the old ti4200-4600 series. Only reason to get the 9600 is the DX9 compatibility,
Sub 200 go
9600XT or 5900
Depends on which game you want basically, HL2 later on or Call of Duty now.
else go buy a ti4200 or 4600 from ebay or newegg refurb for less than 80. You will be more than happy with these cards from your current

I would go with the 9600 family over a comparable nVidia card, I use the 9600 pro and it outpreforms all my friends comparable nVidia cards. However I would not go with the 9600SE especially since you are a serious gamer, like myself. I would go with the 9600 Pro or 9600 XT (same card higher clock speeds) if you have the money.
Good luck with your purchasing!
Hi, I don't think people have quite made it clear enough.
DO NOT BUY THE 9600SE OR YOU WILL REGRET IT BADLY.
If you are a gamer, your only price/performance options right now are:
(In order of increasing performance and price)
- Geforce4 ti4200
- Radeon 9600pro/xt
- GeforceFX 5900SE
- any of the Radeon 9500/9700/9800 series (except SE versions)
Yeah, that SE will be much sower than a GF4. If you're going for 9600, at least get XT.
I'd recommend a 128mb ti4200 or a 128mb Radeon 9500 (even more so if it's of the 256-bit RAM variety)

"The 9600SE card can be beaten by the old ti4200-4600 series. Only reason to get the 9600 is the DX9 compatibility"
even a fx5200 would own a 9600se in most benchmarks. Those guys are right, a ti4200s your best choice. and if you want a good overclock, get a 64mb one for $70
You also might want to look into a ti4400; you should be able to pick one up for $100-$110. Check pricewatch and the classifieds on this site.
