I have the following specs:
P3 700 on an ABit BX6 rev 2 motherboard with latest BIOS
128 PC133 Crucial RAM cas 2
Diamond V770 TNT 2 32 mb
Voodoo 2 12mb
IBM Deskstar 20 GB HDD
Acer 40X CD ROM
Montegro Quadzilla Sound Card
Netgear NIC
Generic ISA modem
Standard CPU heatsink and fan and 2 extra case fans
Windows 98SE

I have been able to get the system to POST and load Windows at 933 or any speed lower but I can not get any major program to run, such as UT, Diablo II, 3D MAX, etc. Could someone give me some suggestions on what could be the problem? I am new to overclocking but have been building and upgrade my own system for a couple of years now.

What kinda core voltage are you using?
Default is 1.65
You could try to up the voltage in small steps until it is stable but I wouldn't go over 1.8 without some kinda aftermarket cooling! [heatsink and fan]

Mine needs 1.8v or its unstable as well.

Or it could be the voodoo doesn't like the bus speeds perhaps!

The BIOS shows the bus at 1/4 which when the FSB is at 133mhz should be 33mhz which "should" be within the PCI spec, or have I got the math wrong? I'm planning on replacing the entire video system with either a Voodoo5 5500 or a Radeon. I play many different games, FPS, strategy/wargames, RPGs and flight and mech sims so good FSAA is helpful. I know 3dfx is DOA but this Voodoo 2 board has been so damn reliable I hate to give it up, and Glide is the best API for a couple of my favorites (Longbow 2 in particlular). Any ideas? Could it be a hard disk error?

i have a p3 700@933 with same mobo. i'll be willing to bet it's the video bus speed. i read somewhere that the older video cards can't handle it. i have a v5 and it i like it. i was having boot problems until i upped the votage from defalt 1.65 to 1.95. i got a golden orb as well as additional cooling on the back of the chip. temps never get above 39C. hope that helps.

Sheese! Forogt to answer the original question! current voltage is the default 1.65. The darn thing does POST and load Windows just fine. It just won't run 3D MAX99 or any thing else really. I need to go slow with this because I can not aford to fry the CPU, or anything else either ( limited funds, you know :) )

I think the answer to your problem is to disable the sidebanding on your video card. But that will require some research. I think info on this is at anandtech site or do a search for "bx133 agp problems" good luck.

I have a similar setup and I am pretty sure that the Diamond video card is incapable of handling the higher AGP bus speed. All I did was plug in a Geforce GTS from my other system and I can boot into windows with the P3-700 at 1006mhz, but it was unstable in games. I read at BXboards.com that the BX6-R2 is unstable above 138fsb. My system is stable at 138fsb now, but I am not sure if it is the mb or I have reached the limit of the cpu.
