I have to disagree a little bit.
Athlon / MSI K7D Master is the best bang-for-the-buck, in my opinion, because Athlons overclock so well. With AMD locking mulitplier's, now, you have to be very careful about what chips to buy, if you intend to overclock.
(Applebred Durons are fantastic overclockers, but I'm not sure if they are multiplier locked, or not.)

I'm guessing Durons will be locked soon enough. AMD is getting greedy.

I've heard their locked already, after week 39. Not sure about the accuracy, but that's what I've heard.

It gets worse, they're releasing locked processors with pre 0339 date codes. They're determined to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

booo but i would still say either the 1700+ to MP or the 2500+ to MP would be the best bang for the buck if you on a budget, other wise dual opertons if you code supports 64 bits and you run linux.

If I ever end up with an MPX duallie, I'd just buy a couple of XP2400s as long as they can still be SMP enabled with the L5 mod. Locked doesn't matter as you can still OC using the fsb adjustments.
I think I just got a great bang for just a few bucks. I just bought This (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=257875)
Not bad for the price of the mobo alone.
Now I will have dual duals! :D :D
