I assembled my water rig using the chevette heater core and 1/2" tubing. The HC has a 3/4" barb that everyone says to just put the 1/2" tubing over. Took me about 2 mins to figure this out.
Boil the tube (common idea) then use your fingers to try to expand/stretch the tubing opening. After that it fits easily (first try).

Or use needle nose pliers, insert it in the tube, and pry it open to stretch it after boiling.

I boiled mine when I did it and had no problems. Its a fast and easy way to do it.
Ive got a little suggestion too. My dad has a thing for measuring te sizes of rings, and its thin at the top and fat as hell at the bottom. When i need to stretch my tubes, i boil them, then shove that ting in and it stretches it a lot better than just trying to put the barb into it.
Just thought I'd share. :)

you could use a heatgun like i did and warm the end of the tube up a bit and shove it over the barbs. i think its much easier and safer than the method of using boiling water.

So we don't have to burn our hands with the boiling water? :D
