I have been readinging (read lurking) the overclocker forems (usenet and www) for the past 2 years, and want to clear something UP.

Celerons: Changing the multiplier DOES effect the preformance. moving up to an x8 I gained a 8% increase. True not that great but when compared to a 40% increase in doubling the cpu speed, the 8% is nice.

My C333 is running at 416 right now (due to poor dimm) BUT I have it at v1.90 and the running stable at 35C.. Not sure what this is F, but ambiant is 74F

Now for my questions:

#1: What is the max stable speed anyone took a C333 on an abit bh6?

#2: I have been watching the prices drop on PIII 700 and 750's which is more OC able?

thanks

well i had my 300a at 450,......

my friend had a P 700 but it would not run 933,..(fsb=133)

Yeah the first C300a were the best for over clocking.

you are saying that celerons are not multipler locked?? errr. NO. No offence, but increasing the multiplier will do jack ****.

I'd read everything since the P II 266 was multiplier locked..............news to me otherwise.

If so, WHERE can I get one????? =)

I understand that, and NO changing the multiplier will NOT change the SPEED reading of the CPU, but do this for me.

Put the Multiplier as low as you can.
Run ALL your bench marks, print them.

Pump the multiplier up to the max
Run ALL your benchmarks again, print them

now compare. I have a constint 8% gain. Every time.

and what benchmark would that be? sisoft sandra? please...

so you're saying your celeron 333 is running at 416 at 1.9v? that thing won't even boot at that voltage...you must be joking man. a celeron won't even boot at that voltage at default speed...what more when overclocking a mendocino celeron. i'll try what you said but i'll use q3 and mdk2 as my benchmark. but i bet it won't make a difference no matter what multiplier i use. the fsb is the same, the clock speed is the same and the memory speed is the same.

Yes, my C333 is at a core voltage of 1.85 (now, It got up to 100f last night so I lowered the voltage to bring it down to 90F)

I am using CLIbench.
