Hello all, I am looking to hit 1ghz. I don't want to have to run a peltier/water cooling. (but can if needed) I will run air cooling, don't know what yet. But what would you guys get to hit 1ghz? and, What hs/f should I get (it cannot take up a ram slot). I also have 120mm sunon blowing in from front, and 2x80mm sunon (all high power) out the back.
This is all on an ASUS P3V4X mb, with 576mb pc 133 cas2 ram. Please help.
Thanks,
Mark S.

go fo either a 700-750 fcpga on a flip chip converter board, thats what you need to do they overclock better

why does it matter if you use a slotket? just get a jumperless slotket by like abit or asus more likely since thats what brand mobo you have and pop it in there. oh, I run an 850E@1005 and its not even a week old, hopin it'll warm up to 1100 in short while.

well no slotket then no good overclock, and no way to upgrade later

People say slot1 chips are easier to o/c. My 800E cCo flipchip runs at 980Mhz on a BX133RAID and has gone to 1040Mhz if I knock my video card res and colours back.
I doubt if you will get your 850 to 1100Mhz but good luck.

If you want to be cost effective go for the 700E, you should hit 933 and they can go past 1Ghz. My goal was to go to 1Ghz so I opted for the 800E and paid extra for a retail version hoping it would go the distance.

100 FSB is better to overclock isn't it? Because you can go to 133 and just get 133 ram and that's alot. If you get a 133 already, you're in trouble, because you have to go into "danger zone" where its like 140, 150 etc... and some video cards crap out right?

I may be wrong though

Any mobo's out there that allow FSB and voltage settings via bios of mobo? I dont' want to do bending or stuff like that on my mobo

Also, can you put a socket 1 (100) in a 133 mobo? Then change the bus to 133 so the mobo is not under any stress?
