Hi,

I've got my slot 1 PIII 650E cpu overclocked to 826mhz (fsb 127) but I can't get any higher on my Abit SH6 motherboard.

I've read the cpu survey thing and people are getting to 1000mhz with this chip.

I have two 3 inch case fans slapped right next to the chip and the temperature sits at about 34-40 degrees C.

I've fiddled with different voltages and stuff and have got nowhere. Is my limited speed a heat related problem or is it a crappy chip?

it's number is 99430124-0494 MALAY

In the survey that chip is most definitely one of the low scoring ones.

Basically would super cooling with a Peltier let me go higher ?

Hey Will...

Not quite sure I followed "that chip" but I have a 650e@975 1.8v core that has never been below about 870MHz...

It is a Costa Rica slot 1... I am hoping to up it to 1007@155fsb @ 1.9v after burn in...

Hope this helps...

Kris

If it's an early ca2 stepping chip (like mine) then you aint gonna get much higher than your present speed. I'm @ 820MHz, Abit BF6 mobo, Alpha PEP66 cooler, decent case cooling etc etc but it aint stable any higher...

As with all overclocks, it's luck of the draw.

yeah, it's a ca2. Damn !

well, I was thinking about getting a peltier, but maybe I won't bother now.

I think it is heat related though, because if i turn the machine on in the morning with my bedroom windows open so it's very cold, I can get it to run at 840mhz. but fairly quickly it'll start crashing.

Ahhh!

Mine is cB0, slot 1, if I remember correctly the spec is "SL3XK".
