View Full Version : what the hell!? Voodoo interfering with CPU Temp......

I think I might have stumbled onto something....But I need a secound opinion,
I know that the voodoo 3 AGP runs pretty damn hot (and that that is pretty much normal for that card), well, if the AGP slot runs perpindicular to the CPU slot, would it (the voodoo) affect the temperature readings from the CPU?
I overclock my celeron only to 450 (from 400) and it never goes lower than 36C (even when I overclock to 500, it sits at the same temp) and it seems that, when playing mp3z and a visulization plugin (ie:whitecap in winamp) my temp jumped to 56C!
if the voodoo is affecting my temp readings, this might explain a few things, but is that even possible?
Anyone out there with a ASUS P3B-F mbobo and a V3 3K AGP ever experience the same thing?
Any opinions on this?

Thanks.

It is a well known fact that voodoo cards run hot as a deep frier, what I would do is either put i na couple of case fans in that bad boy or spring on a blue orb or atleast mount a fan on it er something, I had one bump my case temp about 6 degrees.

well, initially I posted a pic of the setup but you will have to visit the website to see pics. but heres my advice
I suggest you mod the side of your case for 2 casefans like shownHERE (http://www.geocities.com/jonathanwork/workspace.html)
if you poke around the site a bit you will see my temporary cardboard duct(till I get the exact measurements for some plastic or something)
I ducted the top fan(80mm25cfm) to my fop38(both fans blowing in towards hs) My cpu blows 2C cooler idle and 7C cooler under load now that its ducted.

The bottom hole(80mm25cfm) fans my ati AIW and my voodoo2's
it reduced the temps on my 2 voodoo 2's by more than 15C during gameplay. They went from 42-45C to like 27-30C during extended gameplay.

more info and pics and screenshots of temps/performance located @ http://www.geocities.com/jonathanwork/overclockers_central.html
