Hey,

Shoulda gotten (but didn't) the Arctic Silver in the mail today......

By all means I'll post an update when I do get it in. 945 is rock solid, 990 is still quite shaky.

Holding off on the good compound before I try 2.1 vc. My mb does not have provisions for temp monitoring. I just won an auction at e-BAY for a "Temperature Monitoring Rack", which fits in an open cd-rom bay. Has two probes that can be attached inside the case, on of which will go to the Celly II. I need to figure a way to mount it to get a reasonably accurate reading, as putting it between the cpu and sink is suicide.

I'm also waiting on another box in the mail....two more e-BAY items. I got a NVIDIA TNT2 4x 32MB AGP card to replace my VooDoo2 1000, (these things, from what I've read elsewhere here, run very hot, and can significantly increase case temps, so it has got to go, besides, its slower than the TNT2), and another stick of 128MB PC133 SDRAM. When this gets in (any day now, as well) I'll pull my 64 MB PC 100 chip out and add the 128 to the other 128 PC 133 already in there.

For a bit more info on what I'm running, I'm in the database (intel Celeron 600). I'm quite easy to find, actually...I'm the only listed @ 945.

Thanks for the intrest!

Mr B

are you crazy?
why to buy a tnt2 card when you have celeron 945??

i have tnt2 ultra and i get the same 40 fps with my celeron 912 as with my old p2-350@436,
at highest quality, 1024x768,
if you have a good processor, dont waste your money on a 3d card that wont use it power!
wait for the nv20, and when prices drop, buy a cheap MX card

Well, I got the TNT2 on e-BAY very cheap, it's tons better than my current VooDoo 2 1000 PCI card, and it'll run LOTS cooler. I've read that the VooDoo cards radiate quite a bit of heat, raising the temp inside the case. Trying to get the temp down was a factor (along w/ the cheap $$) in "choosing" this card.

Besides, I'm kinda building this on a shoesting budget......half my pay goes to the IRS, the other half goes to the MRS......=)
