Right now my 80 gig WD has 2 partitions, 1 is 5 gigs where I had windows on and the other is the rest of the space. I got a new hard drive and made a 10 gig partition on that for windows. Does anyone know how I can fix my old hard drive back to 1 big partion like it was from the factory?
And one more question. How come on my 80 gig hard drives there is 5 gigs unaccounted for

I belive the only way to do this without loosing data is to use a third party program like partition magic.

Partition Magic it is..........
Manufacturer's rate the drive size in decimal and Windows does binary, which will always work to be smaller, so you always have less than what the manufacturer specifies. There's been ongoing lawsuits and such about this, but it isn't resolved yet.

ahh that sucks. 5 whole gigs.
actually you dont lose anything, its labeld as 80GB when its actually 80,000 megabits(Mb), which happens to be less than 80,000 megabytes(MB). a megabit(Mb) = 1,000 Kb, 1Kb = 1,000 b, while a megabyte(MB) = 1,024 KBm 1KB = 1,024 b.
get it? so an 80 gig is really 80 (Gb), an 80 gigabit drive. my 30.7Gb is only only something like 27 GB. marketing reasons.
Oh, yeah. partition magic, or what i would do: backup everythnig and wipe/reinstall (i've copied a working install of 98SE over several partitions, but i'm a semi-pro at rigging it to work...and man oh man does it want a clean install, i get the weirdest problems.)
