View Full Version : Video signal to monitor lost when overclocking

Here's my system:
SOYO 6BA+100, PIII 700E Slot 1 cCO @ 1008, CL Annihilator 2 Ultra, 256mg Mushkin PC-133 Rev3 and an IIyama i90a 19". When the cpu is overclocked to 1008 there are no problems, but when I try 1050, which is the next available setting in bios, I lose the signal to the monitor. The system does not lockup, the monitor simply goes black and the green light turn yellow telling me there's no signal. The cpu is running at 10% voltage (1.87 volts). The SOYO boards do not have the option to up the I/O voltage that I know of. Could this be the problem? 1008 is fast enough, but this is a quest now! Is 1008 the limit on this particular system? Any ideas? Thanks, Kent

Sounds like a failure to boot. In which case it is most likely a V-Core issue. Their are work arounds for this, ie getting to a higher V-core setting. Try setting your V-core to it's highest setting, then Reinstall your BIOS. I'm "TOLD" that this will up your actual V-core. Good Luck!

hmm not sure if that works on the soyo ,but I believe there is a trick with the SECC fingers that will let yoou raise it

I am having the same problem with an Abit BX6 r2, I have a Celeron II 600 cCO. It sometimes boots normal and sometimes no video signal but everything else appears to be running fine. I have had it running at 1008 but crashed, it seemed to run fine at 900 then tried 930 and it crashed again. It wont give a video signal at 600 now.

I have had some similar problem. But never extreme enough for my computer to get crazy. Usually the signal from the video card gets all messed up and messed up the signal on the monitor. Basically all you get is junk on your screen. a Reboot usually takes the problem away. Most of my problems are because the way the CPU and the Video Card are overclocked. Lots of strain can sometimes lead to too much heat, and VidCards dont like it.

my set up does the samething but I run figured that was cause it wasn't able to post at that speed. It only does the no-monitor signal when I push it to its limits like anything over 144mhz. If there is a fix or a trickI'd be intersted in its just an overclocking limit then 1008mhz is fine with me.
