i built a new PC quite some time ago.. specs are in my sig (the P4 rig)

i believe that since i installed 3.10 cats (could be later, or nothing to do with it) i have gotten weird purple/red-ish lines and stripes over my monitor... only with text and images in internet explorer btw!
below are some pictures to show you what i mean

these images are not mine, but just images i have taken from this forum, that were affected by the stripes... because of the formatting (jpg) the colors are less visible, but still there, in RL they are a lot more bright..

the 9800pro from club3d is NOT overclocked, and should be cooled adequate since ive got a fan @ 5v intake front, and a 12v intake in the side of the case...
well, while writing this message it seams that not only text is buggered up even the color green made its appearance in one letter...

does anyone know whats causing this?

Seeing as how it started when you changed drivers, I would ditch those Cat 3.10's and go back to the 3.7's, or 3.9's. Try that for strters, and see if it helps at all!

If it doesn't, you could try the card in another machine to see if the card physically is the problem. Or you could do a fresh Windows installation.

fresh windows install wont work, since me bro doesnt want me to format it (:() since he would then loose his video formatting or summat...

im going to try it in me mums PC tomorrow :D

thanks!

edit: it also gave snowy artifacts in games.. ill let you know more after i tested it in another system

Test it in another system. If it does it on that system, it's time for an RMA

do you guys think that agp 4x or 8x makes a difference in this case?

the only PC's ive got besides this one, is an Abit BE6-II and some old OEM PC, but only the OEM PC can handle AGp 4x.. (the BE6-II can only handle 2x)

i have a 9800pro 256 and if my fan on the case side that blows air above and below the card stops i get that instantly position a fan to get some air movement and restart if it goes then thats it.
my overly hot problems are exacerbated (made worse) by cpu1's (second and lower cpu) vrms being close to agp slot.

that happened to my friends 8500 AIW, formatting and drivers did nothing... he never overclocked it either. id RMA.
