View Full Version : northbridge waterblock for a gigabyte
i really want to get a northbridge block for my new setup. i had an older thread where i asked about the dtek chipset block but found out that it won't fit on my motherboard. my motherboard is the gigabyte 8IK1100 (http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/MotherBoard/Products/Products_GA-8IK1100.htm). in this picture (http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage.asp?image=13-128-183-07.JPG/13-128-183-06.JPG/13-128-183-05.JPG/13-128-183-02.JPG) you can see that although i have the intel 875 chipset, the heatsink for it mounts using holes. the holes are 6.8cm apart. does anyone know of a chipset waterblock that would fit? i got the passive zalman and it is getting mighty warm. i would really like to stay away from acrylic/lucite tops and was really dissapointed to hear that the dtek waterblock wouldn't fit cause it looks really nice.

won't fit because of size or wont fit because of factory retainers? if it's a retainer issue a good thermal epoxy will do the trick. Or you or someone with the skill could braze/solder you the proper retaining mechanisum on for you?

Would one of these work?

Looks like a good, nonrestrictive block.
i really don't want to use epoxy, but that swiftech block might be able to work. the specs for the intel one seem like it might be too big though.
AMD specs: 52.1mm-61.4mm
Intel specs: 73.2mm-80.7mm
My gigabyte specs: 67.5mm
if i could have a top made thatd be sweet, but it seems like too much work.
any volunteers for the custom top ????

well...isn't heatsink good enough for cooling NB?
Yeah, Heatsink should be fine for NB
