Anyone play EQ on a 9600 (SE, regular, pro, xt)? I've read that hardware TnL is forced off and the game is using the software for it. Supposedly this is only an issue with the 9600 series. One person on the EQ tech forums said "There are a great deal of issues concerning this particular card and it's AGP controller, which in turn causes problems with some games- from performance to improper CAPS/ID phase. I'm not particularly confident Sony can do much with this problem without a special case/force specifically for this card. I'm afraid the real solution really falls on ATI's hands, so be SURE to use the Catalyst feedback form and get support for this issue. The more people complaining, the higher priority it will become on their list." I don't really understand what that all means, but has anyone else heard of a problem with the 9600 series? I know about the 4 vs 8 pipelines and 128 bit vs 256 bit memory interface difference between the 9600 and the 9700/9800 series, but has anyone heard of any actual problem like this mentioned before? I'm concerned because I ordered a 9600XT. If I could have found a retail 9700 or 9800 with warranty for not much more maybe I would have gotten that instead, but oh well, the company I bought it from has no restocking fees.
Also, I noticed that no 9600 card is specifically listed as being supported by EQ. The Geforce 5700 isn't either, so maybe it's not a huge deal, but it seemed an interesting omission anyway.
Any help is appreciated.
