Sup. I have the sys in my sig.. 64Mb geforce 4 Ti4200 fron chaintech/ I have had to RMA it once, it died. The one I got back has been working fine ever since. a few days ago, EVERYTHING played fine. now, the ONLY game I have problems with is UT2k3. It will play FINE for a lil while on leviathan in single player, with the map bot count.. (3? I forget.. maybe 4..) I tried to play online a lil before, when this problem first started, and it was a pretty larg amount of people... think it was 20+.. team deathmatch. Now, in 4 bot match, it takes a lil while, but will eventually do the same thing. its NOT overclocked at all... it will just play for a while, the just STOP. I can have WMP and other programs open, and everything plays FINE, but its just UT2k3 that just STOPS. Im thinking the card is overheating.. I may e-mail chaintech while its still under its 1 year waranty, or I may just use my P4 heatsink I got from rebuilding my uncles PC to cool it :D

If you have the full version, you may just want to give the UT2k3 demo a try. You can download it from www.unrealtournament2003.com I think. Its basically the same, so if you have probs with the demo than it isnt software probs. Hope this helps.

Are you seeing any artifacts while playing the game?? Blocky shapes around objects or white dots? That's usually a pretty good sign that your card is overheating, and typically, you will notice artifacts before your card locks up. If you're not seeing artifacts, I'm thinking it might be a software issue.

How long has this problem been occuring? Recently? Could maybe be a driver conflict w/ the version of UT2003. Try updating the game and/or drivers and see what happens. Also, when it crashes, does it crash to Windows, or does it lock your computer completely? Can you ctrl+alt+del out of UT to Windows? or do you have to reset your system?

Nope.. no artifacts... I have had WMP playing in the background and the music still plays. windows ITSELF isnt crashing. I cant CTRL+ALT+DEL til It unfreezes though. The problem just started a day ago, after about 3+ months of UT2k3 working fine.

Try updating to a the newest version of UT2003. If that doesn't help try a different set of drivers. What video drivers are you running BTW? Any new software updates/installs that might be conflicting w/ the game?

Now that I think about it, you might have gotten too much dust in your system... maybe bry blowing it out w/ a compressed air can. Might want to blow off your video card really well (pcb and be sure to get the hsf on the card too).

Well, I recently upgraded from my k7s5a to my a7n8x I have currently. Its a pretty recent install of windows, and when I installed UT2k3 I also added the patch. I havent changed anything since it was working >.< Ill try to blow it out today.... I need to e-mail chaintech about the fan starting to make funky noises anyways...

My card did the same thing a while back. It sounded like a weed whacker! I removed it and blew out the hsf, and it's been working fine since. That may be your problem right there... if the hsf is malfunctioning due to dust or a bad bearing, it could be causing your problem.

Just to clarify... you did a fresh format/install of Windows after the upgrade, right? Did you update your chipset drivers too?

Just sed what was left of my canned air, and it stopped the pausing, but every now and then I can tell it happens, but its only for a split second... looks liek I need a better heatsink.. chaintech is DEFINATLY getting an e-mail about this.

Are you using an aftermarket hsf, or is it stock??? You could always try remounting w/ ceramique (unless you don't want to break your warranty)... that might help...
