pcchips sucks! i looked and tried everything. this motherboard with updated bios begins no luck. its a m758lmr with a sis630 chip, everythings intergrated on to this motherboard video, modem, sound, you name it. the bios even suck, no soft menu's, no voltage change, no FSB access, no jumpers, IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO WITH THIS THING? Ihave a 600 cele. overclockable but with this motherboard i cant find a way. If anyone knows anything about the motherboard or a work around please post it here. Thx.

Well go here and pick up the manual:
http://www.pcchips.com/product.html

From the site, it appears as if it should have some overclockability, since the hardware monitor is an option. It also says that it supports 66/100/133 FSB's, so there must be some way to manipulate the FSB. You might need to flash a newer BIOS.

I can't look at the manual because my work is behind a firewall.

Good Luck!

Go to e-BAY and buy a BX board before I do......

Yes PC Craps mb's suck, that's why mine is sitting in a box now, with the likelyhood I'll ever be able to pawn it off on someone nil.

Being unable to bump the voltage is killing you. If you could adjust that, you could download H Oda's SoftFSB and have a chance.

IF you go mb shopping, stay clear of the VIA Apollo Pro 133 chipset too. the 133A is a bit better, but VIA chipsets are notorius for lousy memory bandwidth.

I know, cuz' that what I'm fighting with right now. =(

I've got a cC0 Celly 600 thats ALMOST there @ 990, and I am really starting to think it's the mb. Though I did some playing last night, formatted my old 1 GB HDD and tried Win98 while o/cing this chip. I got a higher cpu bench (Sandra) @ 1008, and it started posting (and almost immediately locked up) at 155 FSB (1035 MHz). BTW...I run Win ME. Upgraded to that before I started my o/cing adventures. Back when I was happy with my Celeron 300A @ 300. =)

If I can get 990 stable in Win98, I'm going back! I still lock up at about the 3 hour mark. I wish I had an option for 108 FSB (972 MHz). I got a feeling that I'd get that rock solid, NQA.

I'm looking long and hard at the abit boards w/ the SoftMenu III. I recall reading somewhere you can adjust the FSB over 100, 1 MHz at a time, to find where your chip REALLY maxes out at.

Hmmmmm......

oh dear.

I think that Mr B is quite right in suggesting a different board. However BX is not the only option nowadays.

the problem I would suggest you need to get around is the naivety bit.

If you are green enough to buy a PC Chips mobo - you'll be green enough to buy a poor mobo again.

As such I will recommend four manufacturers you should purchase - ABit, ASUS, MSI, Soyo.

Buy a full size ATX mobo.
Buy a mobo based on the 82443BX chipset, the i815(e), the Via 693a or 694x.

With those combined factors - nothing can go wrong.

No it sure wont, lets me change somethings but nothing to do with the voltage or FSB>

yes, you said it juz right - he needs to go to anandtech.com or sharkeysextreme and read about some good mobo's (notice pc-chips is NEVER mentioned at these sites) and learn what to buy first and then come back and ask more intelligent questions......my boss refuses to do as such and our "bought" computers at work are always crashing and he can't understand why - its usually the mobo/cheap parts that cause these crashes and he won't listen to me........

soyo syba6+III
pIII 550e @ 735 mhz/133 fsb w/g-orb (no prob)
pc133 generic RAM
geforce2 mx
soundblaster live value!

not the greatest, but better than 98%.....

I plain to get me a new motherboard soon, probably Asus. They seem sweet for overclocking, what do you think?

I've been doing a lot of reading on this, as I mentioned above, I'm gonna be looking for a better mb too.

From what I've read, stick with asus, abit, or soyo.

Personally, I'm 99% sold on the abit BE6 II. That one percent is the one that knows I'll have to update a couple of my expansion cards if I get one (ISA to PCI).

Adjust the FSB in the BIOS, 1 MHz at a time from 83 to 200 MHz?? Say no to that...........

Kinda wish it had 4X AGP, but I'd rather have the ATA66 that it has.

It's all in what you're willing to spend, I guess...... Those three names seem to be the best of the crop, though.

Good luck!

Sweet mb, zeisel,

If you look at my "sig", both of those are running in a slocket. Both are cC0 chips, and (I just posted the 1009 last night, it'll be there when Skip updates) they're both in the database on the front page w/ specifics.

I got the 945 (e-BAY) pre-tested for $89

I got the 1009 (e-BAY also) new/untested for $56.

If you go C2 600 shopping, look for a default voltage of 1.7.........those are the cC0's =) Says it right on the chip. (600/128/66/1.7)
