just cause you are a fan of them, does not mean you should buy their product if it is inferior, if you have a 250 budget, get the 9800, it is far better than the other two, the only thing better than the 9800 pro, is the 9800xt.

the 9800 pro or the 9800se. whats the difference in these 2 cards

yeah go with a 9800np or if you MUST have nave NVidia get a 5900nonultra, both will be better than a 5700 and DEFINITELY better than a 4600

the se, is a crippled 9800, it has performance around that of a 9600 pro i believe.

With 250 you might be able to get a 9800Pro. You should really look around.

yes with 250 don't get a 4600 or 5700. as said if you must go nvidia get a 5900 card....but i'll recommend the 9800np

What's the difference between the Pro and the AIW??

Yuriman

AIW is all-in-wonder, and it has tv input and output as well as a tv tuner and remote built into the card.

The 9800 beats the crap out of the 5700 and even the 5900. There is no card on the market that equals it for the price. Many Nvidia fans are switching to ati until nvidia gets their act together and releases a good card.

Pro is faster than the non pro. Just like the nvidia ultra to the non ultra. AIW thans for ALL IN WONDER. Personally, I never use that function, but I believe that is for setting up a mutli-media PC, like watching TV from your computer (or something like that).

bananablack, I owned the FX5900 non ultra, and I am quite happy with it. If you do plan to stick with Nvidia, I will recommend this card because it will blow the 5700 away. Maybe you should try the EVGA 5900SE. It is only 5% slower than the regular 5900 non ultra, and comes with a free copy of CALL of DUTY.

But with a budget for $250, I will actually recommend the ATI 9800 pro. Check out the link below.

I am sure it will be at least 2 years before you really have to upgrade your videocard. That card will be the best bang for your buck for high end cards. It is only slightly slower than the 9800XT.

if he will convert to ati, he can get a 9700 pro for like $200 or a 9800 pro for $280. If he refuses to go ati, the fx5900 is the way to go, but beware its poor dx9 performance when the time comes :(

I just noticed you have a 4400. 4600 wouldnt be a noticeable upgrade from the card you have now. 5700 may be noticeable, but I think to REALLY notice you'lll have to get at least a 9700/5800

I'm using Ti-4200s but can't wait till they die because I'm buying a Radeon Pro since everybody is braggin out them.

So, go to this link and buy a Radeon 9800 pro for under $250.

While the FX5700U is a huge improvement over the FX5600U, they'r3e both nothing compared to the FX5900TX/SE..

The FX5900TX/SE is the best nVidia bang for the buck at the moment, and at less than $200 it handily outperforms the FX5700U...

Look at this link. It has the new 5900SE/XT compared with the 9600XT and the 9800NP

5900SE benchmark (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=257079)

Nvidia has gotten a lot of bad reviews and a lot of people are just repeating what others have said in the past. The new cards aka 5900 and the 5950 are decent cards. The rest of Nvidia's lineup suck

ATI cards are decent but they do not have any good midrange cards. The 9600series suck ass. The 9500series was great. the 9700 and 9800 are also awsome cards.

Newegg has the 5900SE/XT for 180, it comes with Call of Duty a 50 dollar game

Right now the best bang for the Buck is the 5900XT/SE series. ATI rules the high end, Nvidia Finally has something that can compete with the mid range.

those are kinda skewed benchmarks there lol. they need to be done on the same sytem, with the same cpu, with the cpu running at the same clock speed for them to be valid, as well as running at the same FSB. you cant just go take numbers from someones sig, and say, see thats what it performs like.

shortyes

LOL, most benchmarks will only differ by a few percentage depending on the CPU speed. Also the majority of the CPU what there are either the same as mine or faster so it is still a good indication of the cards performance.
