help me,
I have a c2 566 cCO core stepping. I have an epox converter card, a golden orb, and 128 mb of pc133 ram, all on a ABIT BH6 mobo. I am sitting at 850 mhz on 1.8 volts. the defualt is 1.7. I want more than anything to get this baby to 952. thats 112x8.5. I dont know what to do now. I might be willing to look into pelts or something like that, but i want more out of my 60 dollar cpu.

Dude, I have an older cBO Celly and I'll tell you most 566 chips should do 952, IF you work on cooling and bump the voltage. If you have to run 1.8v to be stable at 850, then I'd say you're Golden Orb is maxed out.

I was in the same situation a while ago too. You need better case cooling first. Add at least one more intake and one exhaust fan. I bunched my cables up and cut out fan openings in my case for maximum air movement. I also had great success in cooling the motherboard by installing a 40mm fan on top of the motherboard's northbridge chip. Burn in time may or may not help too.

When I had my Golden Orb, I got it cooling a lot better by lapping it smooth and then using a high quality thermal paste unstead of that crappy heat tape that came on it. It's hard to beat those new Alpha or GlobalWin coolers, if you can afford another $30, they're well worth it. Once you get better cooling, try 1.85v and see if it'll go. Although, you just might have a stubborn CPU if it takes 1.8v to run 850. Make sure you've done all the BIOS tweaks too.

I've done about 8 or 10 566 celermines, and they have all gone to 850, most to 890 but I have never had one get to 952. There are some out there, I'm sure, but I wouldn't count too highly on it.
