After further evaluation (read: trying to play a game, IGI) I have to say things are not as stable as I thought. After awhile in the game, keep getting booted back to desktop. No amount of tweaking cured the problem. Did some further stress testing and same thing. Must be right on the edge at 8 x 133 = 1064. Backed back down to 8 x 125 = 1000 and all is well. Temp at max. stress was only 48c when it crashed. I wouldn't think that was TOO high, is it? I have tried everything I can think of to get to 8 x 133. Maybe it was too lofty of a goal for a cB0 800e.
At least I am still at the 1Ghz level and the pci/agp busses at 125fsb ain't too shabby, too.
I would be open to suggestions. System is below.
CUSL2
PIII-800e 8 x 125 = 1000
2-128 Infenion PC133 cas2
AlphaPEP66 w/ Sunon Hi-Output (also have a Black Label Delta38)
CL Geforce2 GTS/Quadro (CuCooler on gpu, heatsinks on ram chips)
SB Live
Quantum Fireball Plus ATA-100 30 gig(in twin fan hdd cooler)
Creative 52x cd reader
Plexwriter 12/10/32
Heatsink on clock ship
Artic Silver on "greenie"
Enlight Mid Tower w/ 2 fans

48C is still a bit warm. I bet if you could get that in the low 40s to high 30s you would be good to go.

Yep, I am thinking that a couple fans in the side blowing at the m/b just might do the trick

You have hit the wall with the 800, if u want to go further your gona have to use a peltier and or water cooling.

A peltier got my p3 800 cbo slot 1 to 1038 without artic silver, i need to get sum. Im at pretty much the same place as u. So were both at the end of the road for the p3.

As far as playing games goes. you might change your apature size from your motherboard soft menu to say 4 or as small as possible. Youll take a hit on 3d performance but no hit in opengl games like Quake. Just an idea that works for me.

The speed that you are running is greater than what I see as the safe ceiling of the coppermine 0.18 core.

This is why the 700 is the chip of choice reaching 933 at 133FSB. It would seem therefore that you have a dilemma. In order to achieve stability with aire cooling at that speed you will need more than 2 extra fans blowing across.

You need to drop the FSB some at the expense of running the divider to PCI bus at 3 and then having a high PCI bus speed.

...............so many people purchasing chips with high multipliers because of their high initial speeds - I think Ed wrote an article on this, and why not to do it.
