Which games have you played for CG so far ? rate the gameplay and graphics.
I've only played 6 so far "got my lil brother one for x-mas".
Resident Evil - Nice Graphics 10/10, gameplay 8/10
Resident Evil 0 - Nice Graphics 10/10, gameplay 8/10
Splinter Cell - Excellent Graphics10/10, Excellent Gameplay10/10
NFSU - Excellent Graphics 10/10. gameplay was alright, but after racing on the same track for so long it gets boring, even it it is mirrored or reversed.
Freedom Fighters - Nice Graphics 9/10, excellent gameplay 10/10
MOH"rented" - OK Graphics 5/10, OK gameplay.
We are still working on finishing both Resident Evil's.
I finished Splinter Cell in about 13hours, it was just by chance that I had a gameboy advance laying around which helped alot.
I got pretty far in NFSU, but i lent it to a friend since its kinda hard to get a hold of.
about halfway through freedom fighters :)
and i took MOH back, i cant remember which one it was, but it sucked IMO.

i dont personally own one, but my buddy does, and mario kart double dash has got to be the funnest multiplayer game to come along for along time... right up there with the old goldeneye matches on the n64, its a great little game IMO.

I disagree w/ scotto...
Zelda: Windwaker: grafx = 10; gameplay = 10 (best game on the GC imo)
Eternal Darkness: grafx = 8; gameplay = 8 (good game... whoever wrote the script for this one is mentally ill =P)
Soul Calibur: grafx = 9; gameplay = 10 (great multiplayer, BTW, Link pwnz over Spawn or Heihachi)
Mario Sunshine: grafx = 8; gameplay = 5 (just wasn't as fun as Mario was when I was a kid)
Super Smash Bros: grafx = 8; gameplay = 9
Metroid Prime: grafx = 10; gameplay = 9
Double Dash: grafx = 8; gameplay = 10 (insanely cool multiplayer :D )
Animal Crossing: grafx = 5; gameplay = 10 (I gave gameplay a 10 because my wife is completely addicted to this... ever since I got it for her for Christmas, you can add extra content if you've got a GBA w/ an e-reader... pretty kewl)

How can Any game have graphics 10? unless it looks as real as life with out the blemishes of real life.
sorry to go off topic, I have only tried
Zelda: Wind Waker
I would give it a
7/10 Graphics
7/10 Gameplay
which is by far the highest I have rated any consol game since Nintendo.
The game leaves me wanting more, but I don't know what more I want.

10 as in the maximum quality that the gamecube can do smoothly :)

What? That doesn't make sense.
When a game such as Tony Hawks Underground has a lot of stuff on screen at once it'll start to slow down, yet the graphics are nothing to get excited over, pretty bad if you ask me.
How smoothly the gamecube can run the game has nothing to do with how good the graphics are. I think its more based on where console video games are at in this point in time. Sorry, dont mean to bore anyone, but I just didn't understand what you where saying.
I own a gamecube and I really enjoy some of the games on it.
Metroid Prime has become one of all-time favorite games. The exploration is incredibly imersive, along with the visuals.
Super Smash Bros Melee is fun, I get tired of it after a while though, yes even in multiplayer.
Mario Kart: Double Dash was a disapointment. There are just so many options lacking. If you wanna play with 3 or 4 people in seperate karts you must race on the tracks all by yourselves, no CPU controlled opponents. There are no options to set up custom races where you choose the mode, track and what cpu opponents to race against. Most of the tracks are boring with a major lack of creativness. That doesn't go for all of the tracks, I must say I really like a few of them, but a racing game such as this really needs more quality to shine.

My Gamecube is broken.
But when it was working...
Windwaker - Graphics 9.3 - Gameplay - 7.4
Metroid Prime - Graphics 10 - Gameplay - 7.8
Mario Kart DD - Graphics 8.1 - Gameplay - 4.254
Super Smash Bros - Graphics 7.3 - Gameplay 5.7
Super Mario Sunshine - Graphics 9.24 - Gameplay 6.99
Soul Calibur 2 - Graphics 9.7 - Gameplay 7.01
James Bond: Agent Under Fire - Graphics 8.4 - Gameplay 8.4
SSX Tricky - Graphics 8.01 - Gameplay 8.79
Viewtiful Joe - Graphics 6.6 - Gameplay 5.3
Personally, I don't like many of the gamecube games... The real reason I want to revive my Gamecube is to play Metal Gear Solid.
Games as fun as Mario Kart: Double Dash should be illegal. It looks great, and plays great. I've just gotta get a gold trophy in 150cc Special Cup, and I'll have unlocked a lot of the stuff in there. Gameplay 11/10 Graphics 10/10
Soul Calibur 2 is also great. I'm sorry, but dropping Link in a fighting game was the best idea EVAR! Link > *. Graphically, it's not terribly great, but the gameplay is phenominal! There's so much to get in it, it's not funny. Weapon Master mode is cool, too (even if the story sounds like it was written by a 12 year old w/ A.D.D.). Endurance Mode is cool, too. The highest I can get is 10 before they manage to take me out. The only thing I'd really add would be more than 2 player support. It'd be great to have a 4 player option.
I've only played the demo for Windwaker, but it's hella-cool! I didn't think I'd like the cellshading, but it really adds to the game, imo. It's funny and challenging, even if I can't figure out how to use that silly music stick ;)
I'd like to grab Animal Crossing, and maybe Pikmin. They're both pretty cheap now. I think Animal Crossing goes for $40 CAD, and Pikmin for $30. I'll have to rent them first, however.

Sorry no ratings, I wouldn't know where to start.
1/2) Zelda WW and OoT, which are both great IMO, but I'm a big Zelda fan.
3) Star Fox, haven't opened yet.
4) Animal Crossing, this is a sim game and has dominated the GC/TV since xmas. Easy enough for my 6 year old, yet it still makes me want to work for that next house upgrade. As a sim it should have a lot more depth, but it still has a lot to offer.
5) Godzilla Destroy all Monsters Melee, don't bother.
6) Smash Bros, a million freakin options, easy enough for a 6 year old yet surprizingly fun for adults. Very good game.
7) Super Mario Sunshine, fun game, but it would be low on my list unless I were a big Mario fan.
8) Mario Kart: DD, the most fun you can have with your pants on, but it really does need more tracks and more options like Smash Bros has. Its a little light in the pants in that aspect.
9) Scoobie Doo: Night of 100 Frights, fun for Scoobie fans, but not a great game.
10) Luigie's Mansion, neat title, but not something I'd buy if there were anything decent available.
11) Pikman, haven't played yet.
Just let me know if you want to hear about my 40-50 Xbox titles:p
My new sig if I ever update it: One man whos sole purpose is to bring up the (console/software) attachment ratio single handedly.
ps the gfx are great for a console for most games, I really couldn't pick one of those games out and say its gfx suck.

Dont get me wrong im a zelda fan but this one just didnt seem as fun as the others. I loved the cel shaded graphics but most of the game just didnt seem all that fun. The begining when you go to rescue your sister and the end were great but i think it just dragged a lot in the middle. It was a decent game but not the best.
YellowDart
12-31-03, 01:38 PM
Zelda does drag in the middle... esp when you have to go around the ocean looking for the shards of the Triforce dealie. It's still my fav game on the GC though...
*idea* Wouldn't it be f'ing oresome if Nintendo threw out some E-Reader cards for Double Dash (like they did for Animal Crossing)??? Say a few new drivers, new carts, or new tracks. Man, that would be way awesomely kewl :D

I have a question about the game.....
**SPOILER**
Ok, i just came back from getting the mastersword and now I have to go fight Ganon and get my sister according to the boat. No, is this gonna be the last part of the game? if nt, dont tell me what else there is!
Thanks.

I had a gamecube but sold it... on ebay. The dude nearly stole it from me :( $150 for the system the following games, wave bird wireless, zelda bonus disk, regular controller, area 251 mem card, svideo cable, everything.... But oh well win some and loose some on ebay.
gameplay/graphics
Resident Evil 0: 7/7 (same old stuff as on ps just looks better)
Zelda Windwaker: 10/9 (the zelda series only gets better with time, I would of gave a 10 on graphics but for some reason jagged edges stood out more than usual)
Eternal Darkness: 9/8 (Unique story and nice graphics but a little to dark sometimes)
Batman Vengence: 3/4 what were they thinking
Time Splitters: 6/8 (first person shooters just don't work to well for me on console thats why I gave low game play.)
I rented Animal Crossing today. It was either that or Pikmin. So far, it's all been fetch quests. There's nothing terribly interesting about it.
Mind you, I'm playing it at 10:15 at night, so that might have something to do w/ it.

Ok good. i was worried that a great Zelda game would end suddenly. Do you have an approximation of how far I am? I still want to do some side quests.
Oh yeah, I also have a minor rant about the games. The boses seem to kinda suck in this game. Some of them dont seem very original and....dananaaaaa...... wtf they didnt name them!?!?!?!?

I'll have to open it up and try it. My son hasn't let me play anything else since Animal Crossing was opened. I honestly don't know what to expect out of Star Fox since I've never played any SF game before, but if its really like Zelda it should be decent.
I'll let you know when I get the chance.

I just spent all of christmas with my cousin going through the coop mode in Return of the King (yeah its not Gamecube exclusive but a great game none the less) Im currently playing Adventures of Link from the Zelda collectors edition and Viewtful Joe
Here's the list of games I own:
Viewtiful Joe
Great Side scroller, awesome presentation, use of Celshading, gameplay is solid
Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Again awesome use of celshading (I still can't believe all the whining before the game's release  ) The only downside is all the tedious boating you have to do.
LOZ: Collectors edition
Legend of Zelda, Adventures of Link, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask all on one disk, enough said.
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
Very fun game, great improvement from the previous edition (Two towers) with the edition of a coop mode. It would be perfect if the coop mode supported 4 players, if there were a couple more diverse characters and more upgrades past level 10.
LOTR: The Two Towers
despite the lack of a coop mode, it is very entertaining and stays true to the story.
Rogue Squadron: Rebel Strike
A bit of a disappointment to me, the release seemed a bit rushed, the starship levels were pretty nice but the 3rd person combat levels seemed a bit buggy and the combat targeting system is tedious.
Rogue Squadron: Rogue Leader
A great sequal to the original Rogue Squadron on the Nintendo 64, improved graphics, stays true to the Star Wars genre
Super Mario Sunshine
Great presentation, pixel perfect control, but the game difficulty put me off, the tediousness of the obstacle levels seemed pointless, I barely got though 1/4 of the game before it started collected dust.
Starfox Adventures
Gameplay is very simular to the Zelda games, collect powerful stones or triangluar pieces of gold. The whole dinosaur planet thing wasn't the best idea imho. The Arwing levels were too short, I wished there was more :(
Eternal Darkness
Perhaps the greatest game I played for the Gamecube, It puts the story in Resident Evil to shame, the use of different time periods from the Colonial period up to the present, and being able to assume different roles with different people makes it interesting. Very original use of magic powers. I really felt creeped out and scared at certain parts.
Pikmin
This game's hard.
Super Smash Bros Melee
improved in every from the N64 version, many characters to choose from all diverse fighting styles, perfect for 4 player mayhem
Resident Evil
Though games like Eternal Darkness etc are taking the place of Reisdent Evil in the Survival Horror Genre, no one can replace the original. Drastically improved graphics, sound etc recreate the atmosphere of the mansion perfectly. Fans of the Playstation version will love the cheesy dialoge :D "What is it?" "Blood."
Mario Party 4
I see no point why to get this game if you're going to play it alone, a great game to play with friends, but try to play with 4 human players always, the computer is cheap and takes along time to take its turn. I imagine that mario party 5 would improve upon some gripes.
Metroid Prime
Man this game has to have the most awesome title screen ever. Kind of like The Wind Waker, there were alot of fanboy whining when it was announced that this game would be a 1st person shooter, but as soon as it came out, all the fanboy's shut their mouths and played the damn game. Awesome graphics, attention to detail is amazing (x-ray visor, arm), though there is that problem with the control. Some say that its impossible to use, some say its fine, I do have trouble when in a fierce battle with multiple targets.
Ikaruga
A port of the dreamcast game, the polarity (black/white) concept makes this different from other topdown space shooters, its difficulty level is very high but the gameplay and sheer fun make it worth it.
Phantasy Star Online
The multiplayer mode and online capabality make it fun for a while, but it gets old after a while, especially after level 50. and the 9.95 monthly online fee is also horrible, hardly worth the 10 bucks a month.
Im hoping to get Mario Kart: Double Dash soon, but the Christmas carnage left a lot of stores with no stock. :(
Edit:
I did own Animal Crossing, but it wasn't my type of game, I don't under stand the popularity and entertainment value of collecting crap and puting it in a house. I traded it in for Ikaruga :D
OMG this has to be the longest post I have ever posted

The friend who I'm staying with now has it, and it engrossed him for a few months...apparently the best way to play it is with several people, for example him and his roommate both had characters so they could interact within the game and sortof compete. Probably not the best game to rent :p
As for Zelda, I gave it such high scores because it really kept my attention from beginning to end. The game wasn't difficult at all, but that didn't take away from it being fun. There were always missions to complete and bad guys to smack around. The world was huge, the bosses were huge, the characters looked great...everything about this game was so well polished and perfect.
The only real complaint I might give was of the King of the Red Ass Monkeys who was generally a wanker.

Yeah, you're pro'lly right. I've got it for a week, regardless (I love Blockbuster). I should've gotten Pikmin .
I'll keep my save for it, anyways, in case I see the game for like, $10 at a flea market or something.

Sorry its taking so long, my son is out of school and my wife is off work quite a bit because of the holidays.
I did get to try it for about a 1/2 hour and it seems a lot like a sci-fi Zelda. I think it will be fun.
I rented RE0 today. It's not as good as I hoped. It's creepy, no doubt about it, but the control scheme is just . . . difficult. Like, they could've improved on it about 100% before they released it. It's not very nice, imo.
The game itself looks fantastic, however. It looks so . . . so REAL! From corpses' arms swinging around on chairs, to noises, to blood splatter.
I also don't really like the whole 'two players work as a team' deal. That would've been fantastic if they had incorporated an MP mode, but afaik, they didn't, so it just kinda falls by the wayside, and makes for stupid, useless quests to get keys. Man, I'm glad people don't ever have to go to the bathroom in that game. 'Get the train key to get the gold ring, get the keycard to get the silver ring to get the keycard to the bathroom *wets self*'.

I remember I had a better experience with Resident Evil with the control style C (Not exactly sure) but its the control scheme where you go forward with a shoulder button you walk, you do a 180 turn with the c stick. I rented RE0 for a week and it was ok, the player switching concept was just too tedious. I spent a few days trying to figure out the train, I didn't beat it in time before I had to return it to blockbuster and I didn't feel like paying another 6 bucks :-/, I feel that the Original is the best out of all of the series.

I'll try that control scheme next time I fire it up. I'm at the end of the train mission now, and it already feels like I've been playing it for a week. It's tedious, like you said.
I'm almost at the end of the train mission. I have to run all the way to the back of the train to turn on the brakes (how the hell does THAT work?!), so I can stop it before it crashes. Unfortunately, you only have 3 minutes to do so, and you have to go through a whole mess of zombies etc. It's a PITA.

Oni, I'd help you out, but I'm more of a player who lets people figure out things on their own :), btw, do youknow if Pandora Tomrrow will come out on GC ?
I managed to beat the train. I went back up to the scorpion place, and nabbed my db shotty again (I had dropped it, 'cause I was out of ammo). Going back through the train, I put it to some good use ;)
I'm in the mansion now, and it's a big pain, too. Stupid zombies! There MUST be something that can kill them quicker than a gun!
I have only played a few but
1) Smash brothers: Great game, good graffics, much improved from the first.
2)Mario golf: Alright, Good grafics, alright game play, gets boaring.
3)007 night fire. Good game, good graffics, and almost as fun as the original golden eye.
Games I would not play
1) Legend of Zelda Wind Waker. Looks stupid, and the grafics look like they blow IMHO.
2) Super Mario Sun Shine. I herd that it was cool, and the grafics look cool, but what is the point of the game? is it to wash away all the "sludge" for lack for a better word? that is what I think IMO.

^^^ I thought the same about LOZ:WW @ first, until I actually sat down and played the game at a buddy's house. The graphics are surprisingly tight. You can tell that Nintendo took their time on this one, and did things the right way in regards to cell animated graphics.
-=[update]=-
Double Dash: Gameplay=50000 Graphics=9 That game is seriously addicting! Even the single player mode is good! :D My wife finally let go of Animal Crossing for me to get in a couple hours of playing time w/ DD last week.

I thought most of the same bad things about these games at first, but once I got into them they were much better. For Mario Golf you really need to do all the stuff manually otherwise it is just click twice and you're a superstar player. Its a bit like using manual transmision and all the assistance options in a driving game. The more control you have the better/more challenging the game gets.

As for Windwaker, well, it's actually terribly impressive. The controls are tight and the graphics, while kiddy-seeming at first, really do come off as excellent. I thought it would suck, too. I was plesantly surprised when it didn't.

Supposedly you can use the GBA for multiplayer coop and as a radar for single player, you get a free gba link cable with preorder

You mean the Leech Zombie? Those are a major PITA! If you can, grab the grenade launcher in the same place you find the white statue, and find some napalm grenades. That'll set that thing to rights!
Failing that, just plug away at it w/ the Winchester or the 12-guage. And when it starts to bloat, RUN! Then get out of the area, 'cause all these little leeches start to crawl around and they like to bite you.

When you play the first RE try dealing with the Crimson zombies, zombies that you haven't burned or decapatiated. The bodies mutate into tearing machines and OMG are they fast  The first time I ran into one I seriously dropped my controller as Jill got backed into a corner and got mauled in seconds. Thank god for the gernade launcher glitch :D

I just bought Sonic Heroes from my local Ebgames. It was either that or Mario Kart Double Dash, but no one has it :( (the aftermath of Christmas  ). Many retailers didn't estimate the popularity of the game during the holiday season so supply didn't meet demand. Anyways I can't play Sonic until I do some reading for school :(. I'll post a quick review when I can.
btw I call for a sticky!

as far as RE 0 goes the remake of Resident evil is the better title for those who enjoy a straight out sp puzzle/ shooter
PIKMIN
honestly I recomend pikmin to all i know it seems strange but i rented it for fun and its actually a fairly cool game its a fairly basic strategy/ puzzler
Mario Golf Toadstool Tour
fairly good game for a party graphically its really good and the game play is sweet the upside to it is theyve made it alot better then the one for 64
Kirbys Air Ride
Terrible waste of money
Star Fox Adventures
Pretty cool like a cross between adventure and flight sim you get to fly the Arwing but its not a huge portion of the game
Mario Kart Double Dash
one of the best games yet good for parties needed few more tracks, some were too short too the few longer tracks are cool but like i say theres few
Game Boy Player
not really a game but one of my favorite accessories to the system by far the best thing ive got yet
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and Sonic Adventure Dx
both are sweet games pretty much the same thing with different stories bot are awesome games
Wario World
graphically nice game plays like a classic mario side scroller but in a 3d world
those are some of my favorites-KZ

As I recall, there were quite a few things you could do with the GBA in FF:CC. The preview made it look like multiplayer would be really cool, but single player wouldn't be near as fun due to a lack of diversity as far as skills are concerned. Also, it was weird that if you started a game with buddies, you couldn't come back later solo and start where you left off and visa versa. I'll have to dig up the article to see if I'm remebering that correctly though.
I did pre-order it so I could get the cable for $5 (for Animal Crossing), but I doubt I'll keep it since none of my freinds are into games like that and there is NO INTERNET PLAY!!! Thanks old wrinkled Japanesse dumb @ss that decided to not include internet play:mad:
ps even though it deserves a sticky, things in threads that go too many pages tend to lose a lot of momentum since no one wants to sift through all the junk. I'd hate to see this one die that fate when we can have the fun of doing it all over again a few months from now:cool:

I'm not too worried about the lack of being able to jump freely btwn sp or mp in FF:CC. My wife and best friend will prolly play though it w/ me after I get it. They're both video game junkies too! :D
Lack of internet play does suck though. It would be nice to include that, GC needs more online games! I guess SquareEnix was too busy including all that net code into FF XI though...

GC needs more online games? That implies that it has some online games. I must be totally out of it, because I thought there was absolutely no online gaming with the GC.
I did see see a web site that was working on a project like GameSpy's Xbox online gaming, but they weren't anywhere close to being finished.
If there is online gaming, fill me in because I might actually buy FF:CC if there might some possible way to play it online.

Isn't PhantasyStar Online an online game??? I'd imagine there will be some sort of GC tunnel software similar to xbconnect or Gamespy Tunnel. It would be doable, provided that the game you're attempting to play online supports the use of the GC net adapter and can connect to another GC.

So far the only game I know of that is offically online is Phantasy Star Online Ep I&II. I bought the game on release along with the broadband adapter, played it for about 6 months (with the 9.95 monthly fee mind you  ) got sick of it and canceled the account. I don't think I have ever used the broadband adapter ever since then...
There is a program out in beta called Warp Pipe (http://www.warppipe.com) which supports lan games over the internet. the only games supported right now are Kirby Air Ride, 1080 Avalanche, and Double Dash. Unfortunately I dont own any of these games and can't say how it is. Other than the lack of online gaming i am really satisfied with the progress of the gamecube, I dont really emphasize the online (or lack there of) aspect. If I wanted to play with other people, I play games on my PC. And most of my time on the GC is single player so i do not really miss the lack of online games.
Though I wonder why would nintendo bother releasing a dial-up and a broadband adapter, only to release 1 OFFICAL title using it

(keep in mind that I only played the original Sega genesis sonic titles, Sonic 1, 2, 3, Sonic & Knuckles)
The use of the team of three each with their own special abilities (speed, power, flight) is pretty interesting and mixes things up a bit. The levels are fast at a few points I though to myself "HOLY CRAP THAT's FAST!" But at fast speeds, the control gets kind of iffy, mind you I only played about an hour, and I'm pretty out of practice. There are 4 distinctive teams Sonic/Knuckles/Tails and 3 others that I don't particularly care about :D.
Fans of the franchise would of course love this game more. The difficulty level seems pretty much right, as compared to other platform experiences on the GC, mainly Super Mario Sunshine. There is a rating system according to your performance at the end of each level so I am assuming that there is a feature unlocking ability in the game, so far I have 4 E's the lowest level you can get :(. I couldn't get to try out the 2 player mode, as there was no one to play with me :(. The in game voices are the typical japanese anime dubbed voices, but Sonic's voice is kind of like his cartoon voice, from what I remember when I watched it.
Pros:
Replay value
- 4 teams each with different levels
- Rating system
- Collection of emeralds (just assuming from past Sonic games)
Entertainment value
- Speed, speed, speed, (I can't get sick of running away from stuff like giant boulders)
- Different use of different abilities to kill robots and go past obstacles
Cons:
- Sonic Fanboys would of course have more fun playing this
- Seems a bit "kiddy", for some reason when I played Sonic on my Sega genesis, the thought of it being kiddy never came to mind. Maybe it was because I was a kid then? Anyways the intros, movies etc seemed a bit pokemon-ish. but the good thing is that you can skip the movies and it doesn't detract from the game that much.
Yeah I know I didn't talk about graphics, sound, the typical gamespot rating crap.
Rating: 8/10

Just a quick tip. Best weapon for leech zombies is the Acid Grenades. Second best is Napalm Grenades. Third is Gas Bombs. Use them wisely :)
As for internet play, you can check out Warp Pipe (http://www.warppipe.com). It's not as good as say, XBL! for finding games and whatnot, but it will allow you to play over the internet.

I didn't know they even had 1 online game. I figured that adapter was just for ethernet connection of GCs... or is that different from the ethernet adapter?
It would be worth it if I could round up some pick up players for Double Dash and FF:CC (if it is supported). Double Dash just screams to be played online. Great freakin MP game.

8 player MKDD. Now THAT's gaming! :D
I finished RE0 today. It wasn't bad at all.
At the end, you open up a few costumes for Billy and Rebecca (Billy gets a leasure suit and something else, and Rebecca gets leather pants/top, or a cowgirl outfit), and also opens up the Leech Hunter game. Enter the mansion and get as many leech tokens as you can, while still staying alive. You can carry 10 per square, and there's 100 to be found. Billy can only pick up blue ones, and Rebecca can only pick up green ones. Once you find them all, you have to leave the mansion through the front door to collect your spoils. I'm not very good at it :(
It was a fun game, however :)

Comments
1. Viewtific Joe: ComicBook fans will appreciate this title. With stunning 2D'ish graphics (and the ability to slow/speed-up time, and zoom in), and a storyline with a sense of humor, this action-packed title is my favorite GameCube game thus far.
2. Legend of Zelda Wind Waker: Although I was skeptical at first about the childish looking graphics, once I started playing, I wasn't dissapointed. I havn't played into the game very far yet, but my initial reactions were of amazement. Great Graphics, and satisfying gameplay.
3. MarioKart Double Dash: I still feel the Super-Nes version of this game is the best of the series. This game looks great, and is fun to play with friends. Single player gets boring due to repititious playing of the same levels just on higher difficulties. Nevertheless, this game is a must have for GC'ers.
4. Metriod Prime: I havn't played much into this game, but it looks decent. The graphics arn't the best, and neither is the gameplay (i.e Targeting enemies), but this looks like a game that I might play all the way through.
5. Need for Speed Underground: I'm not a big racing fan, but the chance to sup-up a Subaru WRX and crush the competition was just too inticing not to play. Great customization with the cars (note that you have to start from scratch and work your way up through competitions to get the really good customization stuff, and special cars). The racing, like MarioKart, is repetitious (racing the same levels, just mirrored), but if you are a street-racing fan, or just somone looking to unlock those special custom car parts, than this game will be more than suitable for you.
6. Tony Hawk Underground: I was dissapointed. Sure you can create a skater that semi resembles yourself (or a skeleton if you like), but the gameplay and story line is lame at best. Stack that with B- quality graphics, and you get a game that leaves you with a sense of dissapointment (and a headache).

Thats sorta weird, the graphics in Double Dash dont even compare to Metroid Prime. Mario Kart graphics remind me of a childs painting. While they aren't terrible they dont stand up against the art displayed in Metroid Prime.

I don't really think you can properly compair the graphics between those two games. They're both different styles, and they both do their individual styles incredibly well.

You may have a point there, but in the likes of their different styles I still dont think the graphics in Double Dash are very impressive. Even comparing it against other games with the same graphical 'style'.

On the other hand, does anyone enjoy the SP much?
I've found it more fustrating then fun. MP is cool, but with SP the CPU seems to cheat a bit. That and with only 3 curcuits its just not fun playing alone for me.
What do you guys/girls think?
Actually, there's 4 circuts (Mushroom, Flower, Star and Special), plus the All-cup tour (All 16 tracks raced until the end).
I think I've unlocked everything now.

hehe, yeah I have everything unlocked too. It was rather easy if you ask me.
I prefer my Paratroopa and Diddy in the blue toad kart combo ;)
Those two were just selected for the cap, so I could snap the car. That's not my usual team.
DK and Boo are a good combo. Same w/ a Koopa and Diddy, or Toad.
There's just so many combos!
If I wanna go heavy I usually go with Boo. I like the variety of specials you can get with him.
This game is definitley awesome when playing with friends. Rainbow road is insane with giant banana's all over the track, haha.

Yeah, that was definitely a great moment in the game. Because I'm such a perfectionist, I was trying to uncover the whole map by buying bait and feeding it to that dumb fish, but then I got bored and haven't touched the game in months. I think I uncovered 3/4 of the map. Ugh...it's a really good game though. I just wish it was faster to uncover everything.
Yeah, those stupid fish are annoying. I've got a lot of that map left to explore. I wish I could carry more arrows, so I could shoot the damn enemies on the ocean. I actually find the boating quite relaxing sometimes. Like, there's nothing better to just lock in a course, set the camera to free and see what the ocean has to offer, or just switch off my Wavebird and hit the bathroom while I'm gettin to where I'm going.
I've got a few fairy fountains left to visit, too.

Yeah, it's pretty good. I think I paid $20 for it a few months ago and it was well worth it. It's different, fun, and challenging. Animations are smooth, and it's sad to see the little Pikmin die :( :D. I tried doing the "9-day challenge" found on GameFAQs, but I didn't really feel like going through with it after beating the game the first time.

Well, I did an earlier quest and managed to nab a Triforce Chart. On Outset Island, there's a giant head. If you pick it up and remove it, a hole opens up. If you manage to beat all the enemies on all the levels (I lost count as to how many levels/enemies there were, but it took me well over a half an hour to get to the bottom  ), you get to a chest w/ the Triforce Chart. I have to take it to Tinkle to get it translated. I just KNOW it's gunna set me back like a million rupees, too :(

Hmm... all I know is a rescued TInkle and then went and got a letter in a mail box that cost 201 rupees. It was called the IN-credible map or something. Open it like a treasure chart and it looks like a sea chart with all of the islands with the triforce maps marked. It may take a while to come though, I went through like 2 weeks before noticing it (game time). The depressed kid says he wants somehting pale and round and I know he means a full moon, but h eneve rlikes the pictures, lol. Song of Passing is so useful :)
I don't have the Song of Passing yet. I have every other one, however.
I also can't seem to get the Picto box in the jail cell, either. Stupid rats!

Well, I only have the song of passing, song of gales (or whatever) the Wind Song, and the Earth Temple gaurdian song. Song of passing was kind of wierd finding. Its pretty easy to get. Ill give you a hint, it is at windfall island somewhere.
Yeah, I found it. Disco sucks. :p
I wanna get the armour now. I have the Cabana, and I need the map for finding the Ghost Ship.

¿Color Camera? ¿Que estas hablando de? :O
Confused in Spanish, I see :p
When you finish all of Camera Guy's tasks, he mentions something about a fairy in the Forest Haven that would make colour photographs possible. Go to the Forest Haven w/ an empty bottle, and look at the little sprites floating in the air. There are a few REALLY bright white ones. You have to snag one of these in a bottle and take it back to camera boy, and show him. He then inserts it into your pictobox, and voila! You can now take coloured photos.
You need a colour photo of the full moon to apease Mr. Depresso ;)

EDIT: Hmmm... should I get Viewtiful Joe, Fzero GX, or Eternal Darkness+ Rezident Evil 0 next?

Pikmin is amazing!
I was the same as you, I never really bothered to find out what it was exactley, but I'm glad I finally did. It was great game beginning to end.
Is it? I've been lookin' at it for a while now at Blockbuster, but I haven't picked it up yet.

I heard Pikmin i skinda short though. Doesnt it give you like 30 days to beat the game, but it only takes like 5 hours?
I also got the color camera and have started the Nintendo Gallery.... Also, isnt there a reason why some people go through the game twice or something? I am a little distracted from WW right now since I started a game of Majoras mask from the Collectors Disk. That game is pure genious. 3 days to beat the game and events resetting, etc. is so original. WW didnt introduce really any new innovative ideas, unfortunately.
Now I must try to get my hands on an OoT/MQ disk....
How do you start the Nintendo Gallery?

Go to the forest haven. If you dont have one already, buy one of those fruit things that lets you control a sea gull from Beedle. Then, go inside and use the flower pod things to get to the highest exit. Then, glide over to the circular island thing with a vault on it (Its really far below you if you are at the right exit). Once you are there, talk to the kid and he will tell you about a switch you have to hit to get in. Use the fruit thing to fly over to it with a sea gull and hit it. The vault will open. Then just go inside and talk to the guy in charge. The first one I did was with that fairy picture you an buy from the Pictograph dude and windfall. There seems to be several hundred places for figurines though, so it is probably gonan take a while to complete, lol.

30 days, each day is 15 minutes. My first time through it took me 25 days. Second time took me about 18.

Viewtiful Joe IS badass. I'm at the final boss's (I think they are the final boss's?)...Just can't seem to beat them.
I played a demo of FZERO GX...and wasn't really impressed. I think it was more impressive when it first came out for the Super-NES. Back then it was something different. Now it's nothing out of the ordinary.

I REALLY liked it. How far along are you?
Well, i will admit that i'm particularly biased when it comes to gamecube. I used to be all about nintendo systems and have had them all except for gamecube. I loved my SNES, but the N64 was a waste of money except for GoldenEye (still the best console 1st person shooter in my opinion. They newer ones look nice and have cool features, but nothing has been as fun since). Mario Cart 64 and the Zelda titles i found were a let down. Well, to be fair to Mario Cart 64, it was still a fun game, but i disliked most of the changes and would play the original over it any day. For the Zelda titles it seemed all shine and no content. After buying my PS2 i have never looked back. Now my friend does own a Gamecube and so far i've played Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance and X-men: Next dimension (i think thats what its called) For mortal combat i would have giving it an 8/10 graphics and 6/10 gameplay. Maybe i was spoiled by Soul Calibour, but mortal combat seemed slow.
Now X-men was where i found out that i didn't miss Nintendo at all. I had previously played this game on PS2 and found the gamecube version almost unplayable. Maybe it was my friends disk or something but i found that the action was much slower on gamecube, also the characters tended to move out of frame (I actually had one battle where we pushed through a wall outside the mansion and we were fighting outside of the actual level. by pushed i mean the wall stayed where it was and we ended up on the other side) Also what few sound effects that did happen, were out of sync with the action. The sound effects didn't happen at all if a combo was being performed.
For PS2 i absolutely loved this game, and i was looking forward to playing it again on gamecube and was absolutely shocked at how bad the quality of it was.
PS 2 i would have giving it 9/10 graphics, 9.5/10 Gameplay
Gamecube 4/10 Graphics (everything looked the same, but during the fights it didn't run nearly as smooth)
6/10 Gameplay (bad sound effects and again problems with graphics brought the score down)
Now, so as not to be completely anti-game cube, I will admit Link definatly owns Heihachi. I dream each night of being able to play him or spawn in soul calibour 2. If i wanted to play Heihachi i would have bought Tekken 4. Who ever thought of making a guest character for a fighting game a character thats already part of a different fighting game should be dragged out into the street and sacked!

Wow, you think Zelda OoT, quite posibly the first or secon dbest game of the Zelda Zelda series, one of the top games ever was all shine and no content? Perhaps it was Majoras mask you played, that one has much more moxed reviews (I liked it more than OoT since the idea of 3 days was great).
To each his own I guess....
Side Note: My GBA is in the mail :) . Im thinking about starting over WW and playing with Tingle....

The thing w/ Link is, while he's very cool to have, he's completely unbalanced! He has 3 projectile attacks (Fairy Bow, Boomerang, and Bombs), and the Master sword is wicked-powerful (don't even get me started on the Fairy Sword, his ultimate weapon). He can stomp just about anybody if you're skilled w/ him.
I usually pick him or Kilik. I'm actually starting to get really good w/ Kilik. Linking combos and mixing up my openers and stuff. Keeps people on their toes ;)

Meh, I think im gonna sell it now. Going through it again just to finish taking pictures doesnt seem worth it. Sure you can read the hylian text between the Dragon and Deku tree, also, but still doesnt seem worth it. Of course the fundage will go toward finding a cartridge of A Link to the Past for SNES, Earthbound, and sooner or later Chrono trigger

Yeah I know, I just need the fundage. There are actually many games I am looking for, so it looks like it is ebay time for me!
I too love Earthbound. I pray every night before I go to sleep that they will bring Mother 1+2 and Mother 3 to North America ;)

hey guys, a little late getting to this thread i know, but i just thought i'd chime in.
i got a gamecube the day after christmas after my aunt gave me super mario sunshine as a gift (didn't have a GC so i had to go out and buy one :D). played mario for like a week and haven't picked it up since, and didn't touch the GC for almost a month, was feeling like i wasted my money.
i play GC a lot at my friends house (TONS of MK: DD) but never at my house, but another friend gave me soul calibur 2 for my birthday last saturday and i started playing the GC again, then i borrowed windwaker from my friends little bro. right now i'm still in the first dungeon, i got the grappling hook and i'm trying to figure out how to get the monsters from messing with the great dragon's tail so he'll calm down...but its an awesome game. great graphics and story. i've been looking for robotech: battlecry ever since i bought my GC, and i found out by doing online research that it was discontinued and i figured i'd have to resort to ebay, but luckily for me i decided to stop by value city today for the specific purpose of seeing if they had it (they specialize in closeouts and liquidations) and found ONE copy of battlecry for GC on the shelf for like $15, so i snatched that up!
gamecube is a great system and i definitely don't regret buying it now. now if i could only find the time to play it as much as i want....lol.
p.s.- frag: if you're selling windwaker, give me a PM. i might be interested if the price is right (since right now i'm just borrowing it).
Windwaker was a phenominal game. I really liked it, and will definately play through again on the plus mode.
Who's your favourite character in SC2? How 'bout in MKDD?

my favorite character in sc2 would have to be Link, its just that hes Link and well Link rules :)

My favorite game on the gamecube has been smash brothers. I'm actually kind of disappointed with wind waker and mario sunshine. Have any of you played the new ff game on gamecube?
Jeff Bolton
02-24-04, 03:02 PM
oni: my favorite character in sc2 is link, but he's the only one i've really practiced with and i agree that he's a little unfair. my other favorites are mitsirugi and kilik, but i haven't had time to get decent with them yet.
in mk: dd i go back and forth..when i'm using light/medium characters i usually go diddy/yoshi but lately i've been using king boo and bowser, because the big shells kick everyone's ass and king boo gets all specials.
shishio (nice name by the way): i was about to get the new FF for my bday but i did some reasearch and told my friend to get me SC2 instead..if you can get past the GBA requirement it should be a decent game. my friends younger bro has it (the one who let me borrow windwaker) and he said its awesome..not really a FF game persay, but more like gauntlet with a FF twist. i would like to play it eventually but its not something i'm losing sleep over. i just want a REAL FF rpg to come out on GC one day.
actually, what i'd really like is some time to play GC lol. between school and work i have no free time
In SC2, I also like Talim and Ivy. Both are solid fighters, and both can hit like freight trains if you can move w/ them. Talim hits quicker than almost anybody, but they don't deal damage 'till you start adding them up. Ivy hits like a freight train no matter what, but she's a little on the slow side.
Back from the dead!
I just picked up a copy of Resident Evil previously enjoyed from EB ($24 CAD, well worth the money). I'm having a blast! This game is great fun! It looks as good as RE0, and plays as good, too. It's creep factor is right up there, too (been playing it w/ the lights off  )

Finally beat the REmake w/ Jill. Got the best ending, too :) Took me 14 someodd hours or so, I think.
Gotta do it w/ Chris now.

Don't know. I still have to beat the REmake w/ Chris (kinda lookin' forward to that, 'cause he meets up w/ Rebecca. She was my favourite character in RE0).
I might try to pick up Product Number 03 again. See if it is actually worth playing.
