View Full Version : oem vs retail overclocking
i was wondering which is better for overclocking the oem cpus or the retail cpus.
I don't think there is any difference in the chip themselves, HOWEVER, OEM chips do not carry the warranty that retail versions do. Warranty on OEM chips typically run for about 90 days from the place you bought it...no hope for an RMA from the manufacturer.
Retail chips have a 3 year warranty, as far as Intel goes, and are able to RMA'd by the manufacturer. Also come with the heatsink/fan and the cool little sticker :-)
Get what you want.
