5.5 x 146mhz,
Did your RAM work well past 146mhz in any other system? maybe your RAM is maxed out?
What stepping type is your CPU? I suspect your CPU has probably reached its limit at that speed. Temperature doesn't necessarily have to go real high to get the system to crash or difficulty booting windows.
But if you have another good RAM, try that instead and see if it will go little higher, start with CAS333 probably?..
Thanx for the advice, you're probably right.
Cause the cooling problem is out of than way. On full load it's stable @34° C. When I start my computer FSB 150 I get registry errors in Windows Me.
Could it be because the chipset on the mobo ist to hot?
Cheers
I would reckon that your chip has probably hit the limit...It's a known fact that 133fsb chips don't overclock as well as the 100fsb E chips...You'll get better overclockability from a 700E than a 733(which only comes in 133fsb if I'm not mistaken) :146*7=1022Mhz :)

Well, I know but I was stupid and didn't think of that when i bougt my CPU.
But I don't think it's worth buying a new one, and if I did what would i do with my current CPU.

hey don't dispair.. i had a p3 733 which i ran at 825 no problems at all.. my motherboard was a cusl2-c...
i had it up at 913mhz v. stable but i had to remove all the pci cards, after a while i decided i needed my sound after all hehe...
get good ram.. try a better hsf, maybe an alpha, and i think fsb150mhz should be no problem.. gd luck

I know in my area there are a few vendors who'd allow chip trade-ins depending on what chip you're trading in. If you can find such a place I doubt you'd have much problem trading in a 733 for a 700E or 750E..might have to pay a bit extra tho.
When I got home I started thinking, well... I thought why don't I put some Artic Silver Thermal Grease on the chipset instead of the old thermal grease. So I took off everything from the motherboard ahd the board itself to be able to get the tiny heatsink off the chipset. Ahhhhhh!!! NO THERMAL PASTE AT ALL. Shame on you Asus!! Then I put on some grease and put together everything else.
I am a little more happy now. Now I can get the FSB to 150 instead of 146 mhz.
Not much faster, but anyway I have achieved something.
SO BEWARE ALL OC's put some thermal grease on the chipset.
So my Bottle-neck is now the memory I think. @155 it won't start at all.
Thank you all for the advices
As I said before it's working @150 mhz FSB but not very stable.
I think I'll go back to 146 FSB.
If iis stepping CA2 then somewhere in the low 800s is typically the max don't bother pushing it more.
If it's CB0 or CC0 the it should go higher, and above 150FSB likey a PCI device or the memory is the bottleneck.
