View Full Version : [SOLVED] best PIII /celeron to overclock
I'm getting tired of my system (celeron 366 @ 550) and am ready to start a new project I'm low on funds so I've narrowed it down to a PIII 600-700 all varieties...I can't decide to go with the 512k cache ones or the newer 256k cache...any opinions on that...also time for a mobo upgrade I tried a Tyan trinity 371 which has no voltage tweaks in Bios so I could only oc to 466 using the socket 370....had to use a slocket to go higher (thank God it had both slot1/370)....any opinions would be greatly appreciated

Take a look at the CPU database (link from the main page) and see what chips have done the best. Depending on how much you have to spend, you might want to look at the MSI815PRO or the Asus CUSL2-C if you want the 815 chipset.
The cc0 celermine 600 has been found to be the best by folks that are pretesting cpus, followed by the cb0 566. For PIIIs the cc0 700 has been very good, and some of the cb0s (particularly Malay chips) have been excellent.
